I was playing the Ran route recently (1 star) and was at war with Iga, One-eyed House, Shimazu, and had a few turns to dissuade Takeda from declaring war on me. Ended up with a shitload of commanders and earned about 80 points when I finished over 120 turns later. So yeah, it's normal. Keep in mind you don't HAVE to defend every single attack. As long as you control the very last outpost, the region will stay under your control. If you take them out before that, all the outposts they took will automatically return to being yours. Try to attack twice and defend once each turn and you should take them down pretty quickly. Unless you're fighting Takeda, in which case you may wish to guard your rectum and save frequently.

Ahh, this thread reminds me of just how shit I did on my first attempt through the game. I think I beat the Miko Institute at somewhere around turn 40? Somehow I still managed to win, though I think that was mostly due to Nobunaga raping everyone for me then getting pushed back by plot.

When someone declares war on me, I just attack once a turn until they lose most of their troops and then conquer them. This is obviously taking too long though, perhaps I should invest money in adding more troops more often?

It's alright, the game can be confusing at first. For next time, simply remember to target non-gourd houses first (bar Asai-Asakura and the Tenshi Sect) so you can recruit great commanders like Natori, Senhime and Yuzuru. Things should start falling into place after this.

Omachi is a huge walking paradox.
So, you got the run of the mill stuff for a character - hot fox lady, boobs-bigger-than-head syndrome, majickal impossible kimono, all in all extremely obvious fringe fanservice. Only then, you portray her in a rather serious and overall very respectful way, not really exploiting the overly sexualised design but nearly ignoring it in favour of the character. In an H game of all places!

Perhaps it isn't the right word, but personally like Omachi mostly because of her integrity as a character, which is perfectly in tradition with her species and mythos but clashes with the genre.
Not that I wouldn't also enjoy her eating my tuna and gladly return the affection, but that is a different story.
