So /jp/ I need a /jp/ related game for my PS3.

I can chose between

Nier -
Sengoku Basara
Atilier Rorona
Star Ocean The Last Hope
Final Fantasy XIII

What would you recommend.

>> No.6387780

Gears of War

>> No.6387778

All are shit. Get Eternal Sonata instead.

>> No.6387784

Hmmm, FF. Not really a good Final Fantasy, but it's a pretty decent JRPG in my opinion.

>Eternal Sonata
I stopped reading there, and threw my hands up in the air.

>> No.6387790 [DELETED]

Mod your PS3 and pirate all of them. They're all good except for Sengoku Basara, which I can't comment on since I have it but haven't played it yet. Nier is the best out of the ones on that list, though.

>> No.6387795

i just played Atelier Rorona and i really liked it. They did a great job combining a simulation with an rpg. Gio End is the best

Atelier Rorona was pretty good.Easily the best on that list.

>> No.6387804

Well I already have

Ethernal Sonata
Agarest
Disgaea 3
Resonance of Fate
Bayonetta
Super Street Fighter 4
Blaz blue CS
Motorstorm
Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction
Castlevania
Deamon's Souls

>>6387785
Yes I plan on buying that but I'm from the UK and it's not out yet as far as I know.

Sure, if you enjoy going through the same areas ten thousand times, bullshit FRIENDSHIP speeches, and overall a very unpolished experience.

Good game, but it could have been so much better had the developers actually completed it. Also Emil is a terrible character.

I never thought I'd read a smart comment from Sudo, but there you go.

I also have Valkyria Uncharted 2

Well it's too late for that I updated it so I can play BB, SSFIV, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 online.

The story, characterization and (especially) soundtrack more than make up for the gameplay's flaws. I deleted the post you replied to because I forgot my image, by the way.

>> No.6387825

>>6387804

Ah, well, in that case, get FFXIII. Just be prepared for hallways, hallways everywhere.

>> No.6387833

>>6387809

Well I enjoyed Higurashi, didn't you?

>> No.6387836

Well Nier is piss cheap like 12 pounds if I get that I could buy something else too.

Whats your opinion on Star Ocean?

>> No.6387847

>>6387836

It's shit.

>> No.6387850

>>6387820

Only like five-six tracks are actually as mindblowingly good as everyone claims. The rest are kind of bland, and even when you do find a nice piece it gets old after the seven thousandth time you've visited the area.

And I thought the characters were easily the game's biggest flaw. There's these huge gaping holes in their development which would probably have been filled by all the content that never made it in.

Story's great though. Really powerful moments, especially near and the endings. More games need to make use of a name entry feature like that.

>> No.6387856

>>6387833

Sure, but Higurashi was ABOUT friendship. Nier, however was never about friendship and therefore Emil's WE'RE BFF WEISS EVEN THOUGH I ONLY KNEW YOU FOR FIVE MINUTES feels off.

>> No.6387867

>>6387850
So basically Nier is just a PS2 game on the PS3.

Ah fuck it getting Rorona, but I'll wait a bit till it's like 25 pounds.

Thanks /jp/!

Star Ocean is good, but it's the worst game in the series, IMO.
>>6387867
Nier is not a PS2 game at all. The graphics may be lacking, but it's massively underrated.

>> No.6387897

>>6387889

>but it's the worst game in the series

Like the bar was that high.

Nier > Rorona > the rest

Should be pirating/buying both Nier and Rorona though. Good games.

I liked Star Ocean 3 the best, despite all the hate it gets for its twist.

>> No.6388163

hey, give SO4 a chance.
people don't like because of terrible voice acting(which isn't the case since you can switch to japanese one) and some emo scenes.
the game is full of twists and LONG AND AWESOME cutscenes

combat system is a blast
endgame content included

Anything else? (involving other characters)

Also, how does Edge compare to Fate from SO3? I hated Fate... or Fayt... or however you spell it, can't remember.

>> No.6388225

stay away from ff13 like the fucking black plague
get resonance of fate/end of eternity instead

>> No.6388235

SO4 is a pretty good game and honestly I don't know why people hate it so much.
It's still overall worthy of the serie, and if you don't take it too seriously most of the cliches can be fun and entertaining.

>>6388194
Oh come the fuck on that wasn't emo, that was perfectly legit depression.
Give Edge a break, he pretty much grew up dreaming of saving Earth, he thinks he finally has a chance at it but suddenly he's responsable of its destruction, for being a gullible idiot even, the fact that it was a parallel Earth doesn't help at all.
Also, I think during that part in the battles he doesn't call his skills neither does any victory pose.

>> No.6388256

>>6388163
oh yeah and the boss fights are interesting here
almost every boss has a weak spot. sometimes you have to use blindslide to hit it, or wait for when boss uses special move.
Basic stuff like melee only or magic only damage is included obviously

but sometimes you have to use strategy just to survive the boss.

overall i'd say combat here is more intertaining than in Vesperia

>> No.6388290

>>6388256

What about the characters in SO4? Any memorable ones?

From what I remember, there weren't very interesting ones in SO3.

>> No.6388306

Nier -> Best RPG on the PS3 story/characterization/music wise. Don't touch this if you prefer gameplay though.

SO4 -> Fun gameplay, otherwise shit.

FFXIII -> Nice graphics, otherwise shit.

>> No.6388314

The only things I miss in SO4 is the fury bar and the shield guard.
As for the PAs and Item Crafting, I think they did good.
PAs were bullshit without a guide as it would require you to backtrack everytime at every major plot point, what a pain I like them more when focused on the same spot and we still have some events in cities anyways, and Item Crafting was ridiculously exploitable and could easily break the game balance so I approve of them using recipes.

>> No.6388321

>>6388290
there is.
about half a crew and two minor characters for me
>>6388306
when you are getting to the second part of Nier the gameplay gets x2 better.
bosses are unique too.

>> No.6388339

Speaking of Nier, I still can't get a nice opinion on it.
From what I understand you get a different route in the second playthrought and that one is awesome, can someone explain me ?
Looks like one of those love it or hate it games.

There are four endings. After you get the first one, you can do a new game from the halfway point of the game and get the second ending. There are other requirements for the other two, such as collecting all the weapons, etc.

>> No.6388373

>>6388339
yes you have to play it again(from the second part) to get another ending and some additional narrative on the way.

some say it's worth it. some watch endings(there are four) on yt

2nd and onwards playthrough you start in the latter half of the game. You get to see scenes of different POV as well as get additional comments from a hidden character. Both plus what you know from the first playthrough enhances the story a whole lot.

Also the two true endings can only be chosen in the 3rd/4th gameplay.
