know this sounds crazy, but I've seen it done on udedrs, and they are pretty sensitive. No problems or pain there. Trick is to use a COLD flame - cut off most of the air to the torch and have a yellow flame. NO BLUE. A blue flame, like most people associate with a blow torch, is WAY too hot.

Tried it on my calves. Passed the flame over it at a moderate speed, being careful not to get anything too hot. Works great for removing most of the long hair, but leaves too much stubble. Would have to get too hot to get at that. Also, did it outdoors. Smells AWFUL (like I knew it would).

If all you wanted was to remove most hair, might be OK, but won't give a contest-quality shave.

So stick to a razer.

BTW, have also tried waxing (WAY too hard for me) and creams (don't work unless I leave them on so long they burn). Razer still the best.

Use a blow torch to remove body hair.

I got the idea while camping. Some pyro sat too close to the flame for two long and realized he had removed the hair on his legs. I tried it but with no noticeable effect. Then this week, I noticed I have an area on each thigh now that has only stubble-length hair and never more. It got me in the mood to shave all parts of my body covered by clothing again. Now that i'm lying in pain (well, sever irritation) in bed I decided to google using intense heat to remove hair. I came across this OTHER person who did this, and thought it would grab some attention.

Some other ideas:
Those new microwave systems that heat ONLY your nerves, which causes intense burning sensation but no damage. What about a differnt penetration depth that heats only hair folicals? I googled microwave hair removal and found traces of a system that proved too difficult to certify.

I'm considering trying an area near my knee close to an electric heater tomorrow. Anything is better than repeatedly going though what i'm going through now.

Ah, yea. And i'm skinny. Very skinny. Varying between emaciated and just thin depending on how bad my digestive condition is that month. So that's no problem. The biggest barrier to me doing right now is that my sister is pretty big in the cosplay scene, hitting 3-10 conventions a year, and making costumes for other people in more. That and apathy. Yea, probably apathy is biggest barrier. And cowardice. A mix of apathy and general cowardice. But the sister thing doesn't help.

Obviously I'll never be just like Ryou, except in my own head. But striving to fulfill your fantasies to some token degree in reality can be very rewarding emotionally. So I've heard.

But I don't want to do it if it's just completely selfish, some other people have to enjoy it to some degree with me, or it's just pointless self-obsessed egotistical masturbatory exorcise. Well, talk of cosplay and venturing into public places enconters a caustic reaction in /jp/ generally, but the way I started has done nothing to endear me to the community i'm sure.

The slightest application of psychoanalysis probably points to me fantasizing the application of painful hair removal as a self-punishment for my worthless existence. Ya, thanks hadn't thought of that. The only thing worse than being an emotionally troubled individual with bizar fantasies of self-afflicted suffering is being fully cognizant of how irrational,self-absorbed and childish your fantasies are, deconstructing them into their source emotions and desires, feeling no need to carry them out, and then feeling completely unsatisfied and unfulfilled. I can really take the momentum out of my self-destructive plans, but the gnawing desire remains. It's like rationalizing that the mosquito toxin is causing my desire to itch, and scratching would be harmful. You can no longer justify scratching, but you still very much desire to scratch.

You probably need to find something that interests you, something with worth, and dive into it. I'm studying for a useful degree, and that's the only thing that makes me feel like I'm worth more than a shit right now. Of course, what has worth can be different for each person, but if you find your own thing you might not feel down enough to think about burning your leg hair off.

Yea I've collected some friends and that's working out I think. We have weekly get-together, which have failed to occur for the past 3 or 4 weeks. So far as getting a degree, I'm too disillusioned or dispossessed of the prevailing academic system to feel fulfilled for the first 8 years of that at least. Unless I can get this friends thing riding smoothly I'm not going to survive that. Alongside the friends thing, I work giving personal technical tutoring to technically challenged people who are forced to confront their computer illiteracy if they wish to obtain prints of their photos. An opaque way of confessing I work in a retail photo lab and help people use the computers there to print photos. Considering the digital-analog camera conversion edge we're on right now, I'm actually part of something just a little bit unique to the current era. Everyone I know tells me I'm wasting my intelligence and is urging me to go back to college, and I refuse to accept their high opinion of my abilities.

Like, including the people I help for an hour or two with a large order at work. They say "I hope they're paying you alot." "You have the patience of a God." "Why arn't you working at NASA?" (all obviously hyperbolic) Then theres people I work with, who all defer to me, and ask why I stay or how I got to know so much. Then there's my friends, my one friend's mom, who is determined to get me to go back to college. My entire familiy on both my mother's side and my father's side. I mean I try to ignore all and tell myself they're just being nice, or "go to college" is what they tell everyone. When it was just my family it was easy to write off but being barraged from everywhere, it's getting hard to maintain my position that i'm so much less than they see in me. I sometimes glimpse a fear that I've made a terrible mistake and that i'm doing a disservice to my entire culture by denying them my talents. Of course both sides are wildly self-absorbed, it's hard to avoid when you're considering your own abilities.

Similarly my fixation on driving everyone away, starting with isolating myself in my room for a large portion of my life and extending even to this very thread is probably born partially of my hyperactive self-criticism and partially of my overinflated desire to meet other people's needs, isolation being a way to alleviate the stress of meeting other's needs.
