I always laugh when people think it's so edgy because it has 2ch memes, when it'd be the equivalent of a visual novel having things like EPIC FAIL, my waifu, >mfw and so on.

It's a by the book time travel story.
True that it doesn't have a really surprising plot, nor is it ever really complex but it's pretty well done.
The reason it's so high in EGS is probably for the same reason something like Parfait is high, there is just nothing much to complain about.
