That's the point I'm trying to make. In anime, confessions usually involve one saying they "love" the other even though they've never talked before. It's stupid.

Relationships in real life do start because of appearances but you don't do this ridiculous confession stuff. You just ask the person out on a date (or if you're a beta male, you start by befriending her and then months later you tell her you love her).

Is that really the case most of the time? Generally it seems like they're clueless for the whole show, then at the end they might be able to hold hands and tell each other they love each other.
