Japanese tea. From Bancha to Gyokuro.

>> No.6309259

>>6309208
The tea stand in my local supermarket sells gyokuro for ¥3600 per 100g.

Japan is such a unique snowflake. They even have tea, no other country in the world has it.

>> No.6309271

My green tea comes in bags, I buy it from the korean supermarket.

>> No.6309284

do you do the tea ceremony thing?
i find it interesting but was never able to remember all the steps correctly

Corean tea is best tea!

>> No.6309300

>>6309259
Huh, that's pretty expensive. I can get it at the local Japanese supermarket for about 25 EUR (~¥2900).
However, in my opinion, it well worth the price.

In case you didn't notice, different countries have different teas. Chinese green tea tastes nothing like Japanese green tea tastes nothing like British tea tastes nothing like … you name it.

>>6309284
I guess I wouldn't be able to perform it myself, but I'd be highly interesting in partaking in one as a guest.

oh man, I tried that stuff the other day

tasted like old used cooking oil

It's not the country it's the ingredient, retard.

>> No.6309375

>>6309364
It's actually the preparation. The only ingredients in green tea should be tea leaves.

I do the tea ceremony every day and then practice with my katana. I can speak all the dialects but no one can respond. Wish me luck in Japan!

because when the tea is harvested, what part of the plant is used, where it was grown, and how it was processed (rolled, roasted, compacted, etc.) are all totally irrelevant.

not sure if troll.

this and bori cha are best drank when cold, IMO.

is it pu-erh tea that (sometimes) involves roasting?

I don't know much about teas, except that there is a lot that I don't know.

Been drinking a lot of Sencha lately. I can't seem to get it to that really green colour like in OP's pic. Here's how I'm doing it.

I'm using a half-litre Chinese tea pot. I use filtered/bottled water and let it come to a boil and let it cool for 3-4 minutes so it's not too hot. I don't stir it. I brew the loose leaves (Sencha mostly) for a minute and and take them out from the infuser (the pop-in kind, not the ball). Oh, and I'm using a heaping teaspoon of tea for each pot.

It comes out brownish. And I'm using decent Uji tea, too.

Man, I can get wonderful, sweet, green sencha and I don't even try as hard as you. I heat goddamn tap water until it I see a bubble or two and then I brew the loose leaves directly into the teacup for 3 min. I have a nice filter, but that's it. Comes out wonderful.

What the fuck does that picture have to do with tea?

i have some sencha, but when i brew it it tastes like crap compared to what i had in japan

i use a cheap glass teapot that has a built in metal filter, i put the leaves in the filter and pour boiling water through, let it sit for a couple mins

any tips? or maybe try finding a dif brand?
pic is what i bought from the local asian supermarket

>> No.6310940

>>6310928
I drink that brand.

The trick is to get the water to just BEFORE boiling. Boiling water is too hot for green tea, it's only suitable for black teas.

>>6310940
thanks
also about how much leaves do you use, my teapot holds about 3-4 cups

>> No.6310956

>>6310951
I find about a teaspoonful per cup being made works, give or take.
That's why they're TEAspoons.

alright, thanks again
i'll give it a shot

I like Chinese green tea too. It's generally stronger and more robust, though it lacks the sweetness of the Japanese green teas. Dragon Well is the best.

Every time I drink it, I play EOSD and stare lovingly at Meiling until the dialogue times out
