Which translation would you rather see:

1. "Itai General Hospital"
2. "Ithruts General Hospital" (faggot)
3. Your option

>> No.6305884

Was the joke in japanese?
Is it a critical part of the plot?
And "Hurts" is not written like that.

>> No.6305885

3. Brookhaven Hospital

>> No.6305889

Ouchie?

>> No.6305888

Maybe something like ouch or pain would work better?

>> No.6305895

If you really must. change it to something that makes sense.

Like "Paine General Hospital" or something.

>> No.6305920

Just leave it untranslated, or go with >>6305888

>> No.6305936

Translator said 'There are a few references in the text based on the name of this hospital. We can either change the name or just assume the audience understands what "Itai" means.'

Even if the audience knows how Itai translates, I assume it will be almost impossible to properly translate jokes referring to that name, unlike in case where we translate it to something like paine (thanks anon).

>> No.6305944

You could also go with Hertz depending on how the jokes need to be worded.

Heh, I didn't expect you to make a thread about it. Anyways, several characters say that the name is unpleasant, which is why I made note of it.

In that case, a localization is in order.

How about Paine-Hurtz General Hospital, as a name? You just can't miss it.

The TL thread has our best guesstimate, which is about %13.75, although I believe there were a few files I forgot to add in.

Basically, it's hard to really give a KB count because the scripts contain opcodes and a duplicate of each line, which would skew the count. We were also missing some text until recently, so the count would be even more off.

Anyways, I'm sure that's not what you want to hear, so let's go with this. WITH the opcodes/duplicates, we're at something along the lines of 728/5200kB. The text in the images was something along the lines of 120kB (and they are finished). There have been some revisions to the script files recently, so it's likely we'll spend some time uploading the new versions and fixing some things for consistency (which I meant to do last week). After that point, it should go quicker than it has been though, since it's now possible to tell context/speaker/related lines through the script files, which was not really possible before.

Anyways, please keep in mind that the figure is just an estimate, and we're not saying that there's a total of 5200kB of text in the game. That's including duplicate lines (one line original text, next TL), OP codes, etc. etc.

>> No.6307069

You all faggots.

Name should be left as it is. Dump the translation and stick with the original: Itai General Hospital.

A girl's name Yuki is not Snow in localization for dirty gaijin.

Bunch of morons

>> No.6307076

"Ouch" or "Ouchie" are without doubt the best translation in this contest.

It's supposed to flow well I assume, and ouch represents that something hurts without pointing towards anything.
Ouch (or Ouchie, depending on how "fun" or "serious" it's supposed to be) hospital, may very well be the best.
Or at least from what I can come up with at the moment.

Also, I love you guys for this, I wish I had more time so that I could support you guys or something.

>> No.6307084

Payne is an actual name, i think you should go with that.

Normally, i'd say "Stick with the japanese", but i feel that a lot of people won't get the joke if it's left as 'Itai'.

A bit liberal one might say but if it fits either of these are fine I guess.

>> No.6307169

>>6307085
It's nowhere as liberal as Recettear's "merde" translation. And even that was fitting. I'm all for liberal translations.

Ouchie, Owie, Painy ?
That's supposed to be a joke hospital with a childish word.
I hope the rest of this translation isn't on this level of quality...

>> No.6307299

>>6307277
I think you missed the point of the thread, which was to gather opinions on whether or not to leave it in the original or to localize the name.

>> No.6307349

>>6307299
Let me expand on this... The reason it came up at all is because it's a name of a place, a proper noun. Changing these is a bit different than normal. As one anon said (even though his post was basically trolling), you wouldn't localize someone named "Yuki" to "Snow", and you wouldn't localize the name of the mountain in the game (Inariyama) to "Harvest God Mountain" (Or just "Inari Mountain", if you prefer to use the god's name).

I should also note here than the "itai" is NOT WRITTEN how you're thinking here. The "itai" as in pain is "甚い". This is "板井".

tl;dr: Fuck the haters.

>> No.6307390

>>6307349
What will you do with puns characters make using hospital's name?

>> No.6307440

I'm going to have to go with Pain or Paine hospital. I think Paine would be best because it's an actual name that anyone who's familiar with famous people like Thomas Paine would recognize.

>> No.6307469

>>6307069
Ok, and when characters start making puns about the hospital's name sounding unpleasant, then what?

"Itai" makes no sense in English, the joke would be lost completely and you'd have characters talking nonsense. If you're so against localization that you'd accept rendering several lines into complete gibberish, then just learn Japanese and disregard translations altogether.

Don't spout shit unless you have some idea of what the hell you are even talking about.

We'll localize it, although I'd like to discuss with the editor before choosing a specific word. Probably either keep it childish (Ouchie) or do something like "Paine" to reflect the difference in the kanji.
