I want to go just to take pictures of certain doujin circle members to prove genders.

I went to Comiket and the /jp/ meetup there.

It was pretty fun even though I'm not that interested in doujinshi. I liked taking photos of the cosplayers and most of the /jp/ers were pretty cool

Right, I just download stuff. Actually going there would be too much effort. It's hard enough to deal with all the fake files without having to deal with crowds.

>> No.6290166

cosplayers were awesome
too much touhou porn
other wise, very nice (went comiket C75 C76 & C77)

So you didn't buy anything?
Kind of curious to hear about foreigners who buy doujinshi there. Bet they're uncommon.

I went this year (first time).

It was unbelievably hot both 2nd and 3rd day (I didn't go the first day, but it was without doubt hot there as well).

I didn't have a "battle plan", and I can understand why the Japanese I talked to had one with colors and lines and shit.
Finding specific stuff would be impossible without it, unless you have photographic memory.

I managed to catch a few nice doujinshi, but only a tiny amount compared to the people who packed 2 bags in each hand.

How many people get lost every year in the urgent corridors of comiket?

I was there once, I was tripping my ass off on shrooms though.

I don't think I could handle all the people if I did that

>> No.6290283

I've been going since C74. The summers are almost unbearably hot, and the winters are cold on the outside but much better on the inside.

If you're going as a regular attendee, don't bother showing up early to get in, unless you want something super-exclusive. Also, if you want to talk to some of the circle people, it's a lot easier to do so when things are winding down near the end.

The doujin areas really aren't THAT bad, but the corporate area is a nightmare. Me, the very definition of a huge gaijin, got shoved around every which way there.

Going in with a circle ticket is absolutely amazing though. You can get a lot of what you want just by trading your circle's stuff for it, but it naturally has more of an impact if you actually made whatever it is you're giving.

Comiket is fun, but if I wasn't part of a circle myself, and if I didn't have any acquaintances at the other circles, I wouldn't go. It's cheaper than buying stuff in stores, but not really that worth it for the most part.

>> No.6290295

These posts make me wonder how easy it is to slash someone's bags and surreptitiously dump their doujinshi into your bag.

Went to C78 (which was also my first Comike) & /jp/ meetup as well.
10/10, would go again. I want to write something longer, but I've got classes in couple of minutes.
Have this photo which I took inside the east hall. Although you're not allowed to take pictures there, I just couldn't resist these two.

I'd like to go to this year's winter comiket.
Is there anything specific I should know?

Oh yeah, and how do I join the /jp/ meetup?
Like if there is some dude who arranges it or something.

As the winter comike approches, threads should start popping up. Justs look through them and see if the comike meetup guy posted his email there.

I'm saving up this year so I can go to next year's winter Comiket, and hang out in Japan for around 2 weeks.

Flight should be around 1000 USD (Floridafag here), but I'm not sue how much I should bring for spending money.

I want to go to next Summer's. How much Japanese should one know before going to Japan? I'm in a Japanese class right now and can probably finish another before it's time to go to Comiket. Will that be enough to help me around?

>>6292951
get one of those tourist books to help you get around
as for comiket itself, i think there's at least a few english speakers/foreigners in general who go so you might want to see if you can find them to help give you a few pointers. better yet you make friends with some japanese guy who goes there and he helps you out.

Not the anon you're replying to but: I bought a hat at Sunshine Creation once, and the guy selling them wanted me to put it on so he could take a picture. I guess that means I represented something that he found rare.
