/a/ said I should ask you

So I heard if I ever happen to met a Touhou that carries an umbrella I should run away as fast as possible.
Can you explain this to me, why should I run away when meeting a girl with an umbrella?

>> No.6287530

The bigger a Touhou character's hat is, the more powerful she is.

Umbrellas are hat substitutes and are excessively large, giving their wielders great power.

About the energy and rituals stuff, Yukari has shown little to no problem using her power in different ways like opening the way to the moon by manipulating the border of reality (in addition to continously sharing with two shikigami). Yukari is very deceptive but if you assume she's being deceptive whenever an event occurs that puts an upper limit on her power, it's basically impossible to know how powerful she is.

I think this line of reasoning is patently ridiculous if you try to apply it in other cases. I mean, maybe Cirno is actually omnipotent but just pretends to be weak all the time because it amuses her. There's no way to disprove this statement since you can just claim she wasn't using her full power whenever anything happens.

Now of course, maybe Yukari actually *is* omnipotent and *does* choose to lose when she could win. I'm just pointing out that such an argument is irrefutable for any Touhou.

That sounds like her. Alice is the only touhou who we know for sure that don't care about winning that much and likes to have fun testing different strategies in danmaku.

I think Yukari knows what's best for her and she moves according to that. But the problem for me is people that can't think like that and go for the "white and black" line of thought, without considering possibilities and assuming their theory is the ultimate truth.
