You could argue that it was delivered badly since there were supposed to be hints about it in the past games, but that's how it is. She doesn't do a sudden 180° turn of character.

Shannon is actually a hermaphrodite, son/daughter of Kinzo who also happens to be his/her grandfather. S/he then fell crotch first into a rock then got rescued by the servants and raised as a meido and had it's age decreased by 3 years without puberty somehow revealing that.

S/he then fell in love with his 13 years old cousin/nephew because they both liked Agatha Christie or some shit. The cousin never returned and our fellow hermaphrodite went batshit insane, became a witch with dual personality, started doing pranks around the island and banged his/her older cousin and also his/her other female cousin.

One day s/he discovered the gold thanks to a silly epitaph that was impossible to solve for english readers, received a dress and was mindfucked by Kinzo's last words, who then died. Some shit happened and 2 years later s/he wrote 2 fanfics about killing everyone and trew them in the ocean, but Kyrie killed the shit out of her/him before s/he could actually do anything.

If you find the truth, you get the True End. Where everyone/almost everyone is dead but you find out what the fuck happened, including the "heart" behind actions.

Eva was a greedy bitch. Sure, she couldn't kill her son or the other cousins (eps 1-6 are fanfics), but she's always the first to lose her nerves and ACCIDENTALLY shoot someone, which is what triggers Kyrie's psycho mode. (Oh, one down, i just need to kill the others and explode the island.)
The only ones who still deserve to have a good end are the cousins, Hideyoshi and maybe Rosa.
If i was Battler, i'd write a story of the police invading Rokkenjima and arresting all the adults for Kinzo's stolen gold. That's probably the happiest end that they could get.
