The anime isn't bad. It starts out with the first bit of Nagisa's route (while introducing every other character,) then goes into adaptations of the Fuuko and Kotomi routes (with the romance parts cut out, which does very little harm to either of them,) then goes into a more original mix of scenes/plotlines from the remaining routes, then ends with a straight adaptation of the remainder of Nagisa's route.

Well, yeah. They had to go with Nagisa end because that's 'canon', so obviously the easiest other routes to do full adaptations of are the ones where the romance consists of 'and they hook up at the end,' ie Kotomi and Fuuko. As opposed to Kyou and Tomoyo, whose routes fall apart completely (well, Tomoyo's only *mostly* falls apart) when you rip the romance out, which is why they had to be a bit creative when trying to get what they could of their stories in.

In the recommended route order (look up Clannad 300 hour guide on RS) she goes last, but yes, you need to do her route to unlock the after story (which is one of the better if not the best part,) which is basically an extension of her route. She'll grow on you, if not in her main route then in after story.
