SNSD was recently featured in an issue of influential Japanese magazine “Nikkei Business” on September 27th.

Nikkei Business introduced the group by titling their article, “The advancement of Korean corporations are a lot like SNSD.”

The article explained, “SNSD is a Korean girl group that holds an infinite amount of popularity. They officially debuted in Japan on September 8th and managed to sell well over 100,000 debut singles in Japan’s recessing music market. They’ve managed to dominate the Japanese music market in a very short amount of time.”

Yet as of October 8th they're still a long way from selling 100,000 copies. This is trashy sensationalistic journalism at its finest based on blatant bullshit and you're eating it all up just because they're flattering SNSD.
No, Genie didn't sell 100,000 copies and at this rate it never will.
You're so fucking sad.

>That comment shows me how much you know about Japanese music industry.
No, I know it well enough to see the bullshit and viral marketing in your idiotic arguments. You seem to think that the Japanese entertainment is just Morning Musume. Sorry, but nowadays they're bottom feeders at best.
On average, Johnny's Entertainment singles sales are in the order of 400,000 - 500,000 units EACH, with Arashi selling even more. AKB48 is on a similar situation (the three singles they released this years sold 1,500,000 units combined) and even their sister groups fare much better than many other groups.
Get yourself educated.

They are 83K now. Their single WILL BE over 100K in sales.

Who the fuck is comparing the sales of SNSD's single 'Genie' - which is a 2 year-old korean songs song - with new albums/singles of the top musical act in Japan(Arashi) or the top girl idol group (AKB48) in Japan.

Stop creating strawman arguments - nobody is saying SNSD is the #1 in Japan. Keep denying SNSD's success in Japan while all the FACTS say otherwise.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikkei_Business_Publications

FYI : When music companies manufacture/press CDs/DVD, they take these products and sell them to retailers. These retailers pay for the CDs/DVD, which counts as a sale for the music companie. So, yes, Universal Japan (the company behind SNSD in Japan) sold over 100k singles.

Retailer F thinks a musical act from Company A will generate a certain amount of sales. Retailer F puts in a order with Company A for a certain number of CD.

Company A presses CD. Company A sells CD to Retailer F. That is revenue (an a sale) for Company A.

Retailer F puts CD in stores. Buyers buy that CD, which gets recorded as sale for Retailer F. Whatever the sales for Retailer F, it still doesnt change the sales for Company A unless there are agreements for Company A to take back any unsold CD's that Retailer F cannot get sell.

Don't you understand the meaning of "nominee"? They're just putting faith (maybe too much) in SNSD that they'll manage to move 100,000 copies of an unique singles by the end of 2010. Oh, and my point still stand, on September 27th didn't move "well over 100,000 debut singles".
