There is certainly a xenophobic minority. The point is different, however, in my opinion. Granted, there's japanese pirates like there's western pirates, however to the average japanese pirating something means taking away money from the company producing it.
I mean, all the goods, all the different limited versions, all-age versions, they are all bought with the tacit agreement "I like this company, I give them more money so they produce more". This is why most fans gobble up rehashes and buy ten limited versions to have all the telephone cards.
There' the e-penis of owning them, right, but it's also an excuse for giving more money to the producers.
Translating facilitates piracy, so it's obvious they don't like that. And yes, I know that for every 100 people pirating it as longs as there's 1 person buying it the translation was worth it, but for them, you shouldn't get the game if you don't support the company behind it, and translating/pirating is just that.
