I think Vocaloid was a one-hit thing.

Hatsune Miku has the glory, further releases of popular characters might help prolong the popularity, but I figure they'll just be an accessory for Miku at most.

So it's just a question of when people get bored of Miku. Although I hear there's an official comic in the works... so who knows what they'll come up with.

OS-tans could have easily been adapted into an official comic series and/or anime if it weren't for the inherent copyright issues.

I think most good musicians are still mastering using Miku, and the real voice thing for Miku Just came out. Miku songs now in comparison to when she was first getting popular, are a lot better. just looking at the preorders for the miku figure I would say that vocaloids are going to be around for awile...
