I want to buy a Dollfie Dream, but i just saw that this Dollfie Dream Sister Body is going to hit the stores soon. Is it like "the new" Dollfie Dream or is it just a side kick? I kind of like the new flexability with the joints and knees.

I was looking into the marisa version but i dont really have to buy a "theme" doll. Is there going to be a standard release of the Dream Sister Body like Aoi and Yukino for the Base Body 2?

We won't know for a while.

When the Dynamite body was released, a "body-only" wasn't available for a long time and no "non-theme" doll like Aoi or Yukino was released. If you want a DDs body you're going to have to scrap one of the new Touhous to get it.

FYI, if you're thinking of Yahoo for a body expect to see them go for high prices since the DDs is new. the same happened for Dynamite.

you´ll notice that they are listed by release date and the latest 2 are both the sister types. Plus by only loosing an inch in height the dolls can wear all the dd basic body 2 dresses and whatnot.
Giving the new flexability and the slight loss in height of about an inch, i am guessing that these are the new dollfies.
I am looking forward for a standard release (like yukino and aoi).
i guess i will be saving up my yen till there is a standard release of the sisters body and hopefully a few reviews.

You don't need a garage to make one of those you know. They're called garage kits because the resin pouring process is far more vapor toxic than mixing epoxy adhesive and amateur kit producers restored to pouring the casts in their garages.

As far as whether it's viable, the disappointment rate is extremely high unless the beginner has drive and patience to learn. The need for several hundred dollars worth in tools and supply is enough to drive anyone away.

the new bodies are more flexible which is great, but on the other hand, are 50 cm instead of 60 so i dont know how well they will fit into clothes made for DD/SD. I imagine they wont, so theres not really any clothes you can get for them.

Talking about stains, I'm de-staining a friends DD Mio atm, previous owner didn't have a wig cap so like black marks everywhere, it's going to be a long night.

I'm not that person but there's one method that fades the stain 90%
get a tube of pimple creme with 10% benzyl peroxide, lay it on the stain and put the part in the sun for a day or two. a couple bright light bulbs will also work.

nope, it just fades nearly all the clothing dyes absorbed into the vinyl. the color of the vinyl is part of the vinyl compound. at worst what doesn't come out will appear as a near-undetectable bruise.

I don't own any Volks dolls, but the dolls I do own I am very satisfied with. Even though they were expensive, I don't regret buying them at all. I LOVE them, more than anything else I own, with the exception maybe being my pc, without which I could not live my life as I'd like to.

Quality - 100: they're fucking gorgeous.

Flexibility - debatable * but generally very good.

Price Justification - 100 unless you're buying from a scalper, they're the right price given the fact that besides the common body parts (faceup, clothes, accessories) they're hand/custom made and not popped out of a machine.

Overall Satisfaction 99 - avoid dark clothes, heat and humidity. These dolls come with full warning about staining and doesn't happen if you're careful.


* DDs advertises a more obviously flexible elbow similar to the Obitsu offerings. What a lot of people don't know is that there are hidden joints in the upper arms and thighs that facilitate a fuller range of motion - pic related.

the money: it is much, BUT not soo much that it would be a horrible mistake you´d always regret (but you´re going to love your dollfie anyway!)

You don´t like the jounts?
- buy her some over knee socks and a long sleeve shirt or armwarmers

don´t want to stain her head with the wig?
- wrap a little sling wrap around her head instead of buying a pricy head cap

don´t want her body to stain?
- don´t buy everything you find, try to prefer light colors

you stained her?
- get some pimpel cream with 10% benzyl peroxide in it. rub it on the stained area(s) and use a 100w lightbulp or two for a few ours. wipe off the cream and clean the area. your done.
worst case scenario you have a tiny little bit of staining left that looks like a slight bruise, it wont affect the vinyl.

shoes to loose?
-put a piece of tissue in the shoe and adjust the inner shoe size until the shoe fits

dollfie looks sad?
-give her a hug and buy her a nice dress!

In general. For looser- fitting clothing (Like dresses), you should be fine, but for tighter things, you have to be a bit careful because DDs are very curvy, especially around the hips. SDs don't have the super-curvy anime girl build to them. Tops that fit right in the chest can be a bit hard to find if it's a large bust DD or if you're buying for a DDdy as well. There is a thread on Den of Angels that has a spreadsheet of measurements, so you can look it up there too.

i recommend using power tack (or something similar BUT COLORLESS!)

make a tiny string of tack (or whatever they call it in your neck of wood) and put in under the wig and press it gently on the head of the doll.

Well, folks. I ordered her. She's gonna be my first daughter. After a year of lurking Volks USA and staring at my dazzling array of choices (see: Aoi see: Yukino - OK, now you're done) I saw the DDS Reimu in a thread last week and pulled the trigger. Whatever you say. I've paid $20-130 for figs in the past, but I just can't justify buying a $700+ doll unless it breathes fire and cooks steaks for me. If it's in the $500+ range, sure, I'd consider a purchase if the doll is of exceptional quality and design or something I'd need to assemble myself. The DD Reimu just seems a little... lackluster for its price. I've seen customs out there that look far more appealing.
