Rinnosuke. Dude just wants to open an item shop and hoard his shit for himself. But suddenly freeloaders, thieves, time-stopping thieves, fairies, ancient reality-eating swords, Yukari, so on, so forth.

Alternatively, any of the fairies. Since they look like cute girls, don't have the power to resist and humans despise them by default (and not without good reason) it's not unlikely they were raped dozens of times. That's why I like them, they're so happy and cheerful despite essentially being considered subhuman.

Mokou, Koishi and Suwako struck me as the most tragic figures while I played through the games the first times, before the secondaries corrupted me. On the other hand, a surprising ammount of the cast have a tragic side by their character.

Take Touhou 6:
- Rumia will never be able to socialize with that big ball of darkness surrounding her. ;_;
- Cirno won't get recognized for her talent as a fairy because of a fairy's limitations, and gets bullied. ;_;
- They won't call Meiling by her true name. ;_;
- Patche spends all her days learning spells she won't be able to chant because of her astma, while ruining her eye sight, while having her books stolen. ;_;
- Sakuya is so devoted to her challeging job she'll never be able to relax. When slowing down time she'll age faster than others, and tier out her body in no time. The whole staff probably suffers from horrible working conditions. ;_;
- Remilia just wanted to be able to go outside at daytime like normal people do. ;_;
- Flandre will be locked inside the basement for at least another 500 years. ;_;

Touhou is just one big tragedy in good greek tradition, but they all smile so sincerely, just adding salt to the wound in this bitter-sweet tale of Gensokyo. ;_;

My vote goes for Cirno. Everyone treat her like if she were an idiot, but in the truth she acts like that because she has no firends. She's always alone in the frozen lake, and the other fairies hate her.

I like how Yuyuko doesn't get mentioned because of her dizty ghost façade, she's the traditional tragic girl of Touhou. Though Byakuren has a rather rough past.

Mokou I've not read enough of the book material to know how bad her past actually is, from the games you get the impression she basically got hella mad about how Kaguya treated her dad and went for a long revenge route.

Yeah Mokou got hella mad at Kaguya and at moon shit in general. She found a party taking the elixir to a mountaintop and tagged along, and the mountain goddess killed the whole group except for one dude who Mokou pushed off a cliff. And then she drank the elixir just because she was a stupid angry young girl. Her story's not as pitiable as others but it has some classic tragic elements.

Mostly fanon. In IN it is insinuated she may have eaten Mystia, but then that could have also been her joking around, or people interpreting what she said wrong, as it was never explicitly stated that she ate anyone.
