/a/ hates on it due to all the new characters that were introduced that "replaced" Nanoha and Fate as main characters. But then again /a/ hates almost everything, so no surprise there.


Personally I must say that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I rewatched the entire series over the course of the last two weeks and the whole Vivio incident still brought a tear to my eye.

StrikerS had potential, as previously mentioned on this thread, but it wasted much of it away on pointless characters (Emilio and Caro) and training episodes. As a result Fate got shafted pretty badly for a main character, I can see why you would have Hayate behind the desk most the show, but Fate is Nanoha's bro, always there to back her up. She came back from her time skip looking good, her new barrier jacket was surprisingly conservative compared to her originals but they were understandable. When it came to Fate's time to shine, they gave her a terrible, terrible fight, a moment to show off a new weapon mode which had the potential to look awesome but all we get is a bit of waving her swords about and derp. The progression of her character feels wasted as if she's lost the backbone she got in A's.

That said, there were good parts of StrikerS, Nanoha did well but then they wouldn't be able to recover the series if she didn't do well. Tiana and Subaru are both good characters and their scenes were on the whole pretty good, again a little too much time on the mechanics of their training which could have been done (and were done better) in the attached manga to the series, but they both come out of it well. Vita did surprisingly well out of StrikerS too, Signum did not but at least she got more of a mention then Zafira.

Had they kept StrikerS down to 13 episodes and reduced the mention of side characters it would have been better.

She only really existed to try a new failed gimmick for StrikerS sort of like how A's introduced the Cartridge System. Caro and Lutecia were there purely to introduce summoning to the setting; the main issue with this is that they can't draw monsters to save their anime so it ended up with horrible looking godzilla duels that added nothing to the series.

Caro, Emilio and Lutecia could have easily been toned down into barely mentioned support characters and the time could have been given to any of the Wolkenritter or to better establish the Numbers.

Which is why I'd say dump Lutecia down to support only as well. Zest is fine as he existed mainly for the Knights to duel and ultimately for Signum to defeat, but Lutecia mainly existed as a counter to Caro. I like Lutecia more then Caro but she wouldn't be any worse with less screen time. Basically just using Caro and Emilio to fill out the squad while concentrating on Teana and Subaru (as new characters) would have worked better. StrikerS simply added too many characters and then gave further side characters too much time (Vice for example).
