As far as wearing goes I actually owned a $125 Yoko and a $25 Yoko (same version) and there was absolutely no difference in the way they wore or faded after washing. I'm not saying all of the cheapos are going to be like this. If I order a cheap one I only order it from Japan Mall because although they are most certainly bootlegs they are high quality. The Reimu I bought from them a year ago still looks pretty much perfect.

Where would you find images that are high enough resolution? I'd be interested, but I only have one dakimakura thus far because it's the only one I've ever seen that isn't hideously explicit (Rin from Little Busters - I've never even gone through the game, I just thought the dakimakura looked so cute~). If I had HIGH-res worksafe images I'd probably try to get some made...

In season one they imply that the violence is caused in certain individuals by a virus or syndrome or genetic mutation of some kind that is specific to the area. The time loop / alternate dimension thing is implied just by watching it. The first season also suggests something about local dark gods and maybe a biological plague/curse from such gods.

No more explanation is needed. Those are all cool ideas that leave just enough mystery behind them to be eerie and paranormal. Those are all much cooler than the actual canon story, which is very lame.

Viewers don't need everything spelled out for them anyway. The best art leaves things open to speculation and interpretation. It was a great concept and then it ruined itself.

Higurashi wasn't really focused on the gore or killer lolis in the first place. The first two arcs were brutal, but the ones after that focused less on violence. Yeah, brain parasites is a stupid explanation, but what did you expect, really? The 'DEMONS FROM THE SWAMP' and hallucinations were brought up multiple times so it was obvious something like that was happening.

Personally I think the answer arcs are a lot better than the question arcs in terms of writing, music, and fleshing out the characters. The question arcs were great in suspense but had those god awful slice of life segments for the first half, then shit gets real in the second half; also bad music. Both seasons of the anime are just terrible all around though.
