>You knew it was coming, what with that not-so-subtle teaser website put up by Sega last week, but the publisher has gone one better over the weekend, seemingly (and accidentally) revealing that Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be shown at TGS.

Sega published its four-day schedule for the 2010 Tokyo Game Show recently, and on Thursday the 16th at 2pm was planning on showing something special. Something unannounced.

Thing is, when you changed the .gif of the schedule to a .jpg, you got a different image, one with the company's "secret" game revealed. And that game is Valkyria Chronicles 3.

The apparent loophole has since been closed, but the internet, it never forgets.

So, Thursday it is! Can't wait.

Well, I don't think anyone is in the old thread, so I'll repost my question here instead.

So why did they make VC2 for the PSP instead of PS3? I assume they figured that it would cut down on development costs, but when you don't make even half the sales of the first one, is it worth it?

Or maybe it's already been talked about, I don't really follow VC.

Well Valkyria Chronicles wasn't an instant hit, it was a sleeper hit, at release it didn't sell that much but over the years it sold a TON, as why they decided to make a VC2 for the PSP is as mind boggling to me as it is to you.

So anyways from what I hear VC2 story and animation are nothing compared to VC1 but they improved the battle system quite a bit. They also added multilayer plus a new class and a lot of special bonuses and characters form VC1 can be unlocked in VC2.

So if you like tactical games like Jagged Alliance 2 or Silent Storm or the old X-com series. Except this is 3D.

I'll quote wiki here, "Sega's Valkyria Chronicles (2008) for the PlayStation 3 utilizes the seventh-generation console processing power by using a distinctive anime/watercolor art style, as well as incorporating third-person shooter elements. After selecting a character in the overhead map view, the player manually controls him/her from a third person view. This mechanic allows for, among others: free movement to a certain range, manual aiming with extra damage for headshots, a limited cover system, and real-time hazards, such as interception fire and landmines. The game has been described as "the missing link between Final Fantasy Tactics and Full Spectrum Warrior."

So if anything I'd get the game for it gameplay. Because it's incredibly fun. I had fun grinding in VC1 for money because you could try out so many different tactics on one map.

What's good or not is a matter of opinion but I would say that the PSP has at least as many good games as the DS if you only know English, and much more if you also know Japanese. Especially if we consider the huge library of "VN" on it.
Even better is to own both consoles.

I do own both, but I thought most of the games for DS I bought were rather disappointing. Good RPGs? The best RPG for DS I played was Dragon Quest 4. Etrian Odyssee is nice, but not necessarily a system seller. FFTA2 is very good gameplay wise and one of the few DS 2D games (which do not suffer from the terribly shitty 3D graphics most other DS games have), but a mess story- and characterdesign wise. PSO:0 is an okay single player game, the multiplayer part is unplayable, and even compared to Blue Burst it's extremely ugly. What am I missing?

I can't purchase a PSP in good conscious. Also, it feels like it's near the development cycle where they'll announce a PSP2 or something, so I'll be literally buttmad if I buy one a full price only to find out a new model is announced at TGS 2 or something.
