I hate NHK with a passion. It's not even about Hikikomori since the main character has a friend he talks with in real life, routinely meets with a girl and generaly spends most of the show outside his house. That's not a Hikikomori, that's a lazy faggot who can't hold a job. NHK much like Genshiken has fuck all to do with what it's trying to represent. They're for /a/ normals who get off on identifying with the main characters - "OMG I spent all this weekend in my house and I watched 3 anime episodes I'm such a hiki otaku XD it's like I'm really Japanese ^_^".

That's not a fair criticism given that the entire point of the show is how everyone else had to drag him out of his house. At the start of the series, he very much *was* a hikikomori, and it wasn't until Yamazaki and Misaki started making him do something with his life that he started to leave his socially reclusive ways behind

Well first of all, he wanted to. The first episode spells it out if nothing else, he wasn't happy with how things were. As for Yamazaki he also explains, how it made him feel like he was in highschool again and it was like everything that happened in between wasn't real.
He also didn't have an elitist attitude about the whole thing. He wasn't doing well in school, never had an interest in anything, no real prospects and one day the heat just got to him and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Feeling judged and rejected, he fled. And since then has had nothing to change that intital impression/breakdown. It wasn't like he did it because he was mad at society or because he felt some sense of entitlement. He did it out of fear (a real hikikimori) and the whole time it weighed on him in some form or another. When he was granted a way to escape it , even though it wasn't the best or even a desired way he took it. Because he really did want to change he was simply afraid to.

Someone who is crippled can't walk. Period. Being afraid to leave your house because of a fear of the world judging you is a completely different issue. Satou left his house for food and shit out of necessity. A disabled person would not be able to stand just because they were in a situation where they ABSOLUTELY had to.

Otaku and Hikikimori aren't exactly synonymous. Often times they go hand in hand sure. But they are not the same thing, nor a requirement of one another. He was a hikkimori because he was already feeling rather hopeless about his prospects for the future and a long serires of mundane things finally set him over the edge. It had nothing to do with wanting to avoid people, becuase disagreeable, or even his hobbies. He was just an "average guy" before it overwhelmed him and turned him into what he came to be. A person with severe social anxiety disorder (the disorder part is important, otherwise it's only anxiety) can't function normally under "triggering circumstances".
A crippled person can still crawl.

And now I am not going to pass judgment and claim that crippled people without social anxiety disorder have it easier, but I do say that it's wrong to claim the other way around.

And no, mental disorders, including social anxiety disorders, are not as simple as "get a grip on yourself and do it seriously!", there are actual changes/alterations done to the brain physically etc

Then again, that's surely no excuse not to try to better oneself.
A cripple without legs can still train ones arms enough to compensate, being able to do stuff such as swimming etc
A person with social anxiety disorder could train how to cope with a triggered state better.
That is, the body and mind panicking, that is tons of hormones etc that runs straight out into the blood, but still through will and concentration hide it/keep it down, putting on a false normal face. The fact that the physical condition would make one exhausted to the point where it's possible to collapse is of course something to be put into consideration.

Yamazaki pretty much gave up and accepted what his family decided, his whole travel to Tokyo was pretty much a childish fit.

He didn't even have to struggle for anything just, "Welp times up here, guess I'll go home to my business, home and wife already set up. Cya Satou."

I was the one that actually up this... Sloppy and messy as hell, and I guess I didn't want to put too much effort into something so silly.

I might had started much eariler, like during summer, but I didn't think the trolling and all the spams would become such a huge thing.

The whole message there was: if you depend on other people to completely structure your life for you, it will just fall apart again when they are gone.

No one could havge predicted that, everyone thought it would be '/a/'s most btrolled anime of the summer', tehre's always one because of the influx of newfags, but bake justy blew out of proportion into a mass of trolls, reverse-trolls, bandwagons, hivemind and smashed fans.
When you can have a better discussion of a series in animesuki, there's a abig problem.

I like to pretend the last 3 or so episodes of Welcome to NHK didn't exist. FUCK Yamazaki having to go home and marry some random lady. Part of what made him awesome was his drive to live out his dreams of making a visual novel. The whole part where he just accepted his parents making him come back to the farm to marry some lady who JUST SO HAPPENED to resemble that girl he had a crush on just made me want to fucking throw things

IT WAS BULLSHIT. HE SHOULD'VE STAYED, HE SHOULD'VE BEEN WITH SATOU, THEY SHOULD'VE BUILT A FUTURE FOR THEMSELVES TOGETHER!

GODDAMNIT

I swear the entire series was designed to provoke this response from me. The entire anime is just an analogy for real life; it fills you with nothing but regrets at missed opportunities and makes you curse all the decisions and choices that led you to the present

Damn Satou for never pursuing his Sempai
Damn Yamazaki for giving up on his dreams to accept the life his parents planned for him
Damn Misaki for successfully sinking her emotional hooks into Satou
Damn it all.

at least you got it right, real life isn't sunshine and rainbows, you'll probably fail in your endeavours.

There was some bandwagon trolling, but it was really more like one-sided troll and spams. Those copypasta that he spammed was the reason why I started to archive since I can basically tell that he only made that to generate hate. Him spamming and reverse trolling in DtB2 threads was what pushed me to start archiving. Other than trying to ruin DtB2 threads, among others, trolling Bmg was actually his primary goal.

I'm sad for you. I'm sad because there was a scene that sums up your rant (in a minor way) in NHK. I'll grab a screen of it. It was also a really funny scene. But appropriate to how you feel.
