Today I got an idea for a userscript to filter out spam threads and other junk that is not easily filtered by the regular filter script. This would only be cosmetic change of course, but may be better than nothing.

Basically it would work like this: After installing the script you get a small report button or icon. If clicked it will send the thread number to a server which I would set up. On this server reports from all users would be aggregated and if the number of reports exceeds a certain threshold (I'm not yet sure about how to calculate this, but it would probably be calculated by the frequency and total number of reports) it will add the thread to a dynamic list of threads to be filtered. This list would then be downloaded by the script every 10 minutes or so and used to filter out the offending threads.

I was also thinking about implementing a whitelist for threads you want to see anyway that worked like the regular filter except the other way around to show threads that would otherwise be filtered. And maybe also make it an option to report threads to 4chan's report system.

Would you use something like this?
Do you have any ideas or feature requests?

What would Saten have to say about this?

Um, no.

The idea is not so bad but I fear that there would be no threads left on /jp/.

Wow, I didn't know about. I'll look into it.

It's easy to limit the amount of threads that could be filtered at any given time to about 5 pages worth or so.

reported for seditious writings against your autistic overlords.

I don't think it's worthwhile. The sensible ones are already using 4watch, which works quite decently, and essentially does the same what you intended.

You're right, I tried it out and it's pretty much what I wanted to do.
I just didn't know about it before. So this project is canceled. Thanks for recommending 4watch.
