Ironically, I never played it beyond the beginning before my computer died. But I loved Touhou Mother. The game is mostly made by the funny funky scenerios and dialogue, so if you don't care for it and don't like the gameplay, maybe it just isn't for you.

Its not grindy if you know what monster to surprise battle on. Examples would be criminal caterpillars and fops (or whatever those round things that comes in batches of 4 to 6 are called).
