Is Japanese really THAT hard of a language to learn?
As a native English speaker, I have studied Japanese for about a week and it doesn't seem too hard so far....
Also, I enjoy memorizing things so that might help, but is it really that hard?

I've been learning it for a couple years now, with much exposure from anime/manga/games before taking it as an elective course at university. Like a complete idiot I decided to sign up for the N2 JLPT for December this year, before really checking expected knowledge/example questions. It's looking like it will be very hard to learn that much in that time, but as long as I try I will have learnt something.

The trend of replying with the name of a tripfag and sage is even worse, as it accomplishes nothing and only serves to increase the e-penis of whoever you're "attacking".

The sage feature was never meant to serve as an implied insult or general disagreement! Why people started using it that way is beyond me. There are plenty of reasons why one would choose not to bump a thread with his reply.
