Yes, because humans strive for intimacy. Live isn't some kind of romance novel, yet so many people find someone they can get together with. If you isolate a group of 50 people of different genders, chances are a lot of them will get together with each other.

Humans love to be loved. It feels nice to be loved by someone, and in return you can love them back in hopes of gaining more love.

Not everyone will become gay, but surely lots of people who would date girls under normal circumstances would end up dating boys instead. They rarely get to meet girls, they're surrounded by guys all the time. If they're not gay, they may sometimes get the urge to experiment a bit, and they'd probably be able to find someone else willing to experiment as well.
