alright /jp/, VN thoughts and ratings
keep in mind the timeframe in which it was released mind you.

Yume Miru Kusuri: 10/10
pros? loved the characters, plot, music, art, ect not even movies got me as fired up or ;_; as this game
problems? saving one girl means death for the other two, or atleast pain for the other two, but then again, its something to be expected, and i guess adds some dimensions to the plot.

Tsukihime: 9/10
pros? so many twists and turns in the plot, kept me interested, music was definately one of the best factors. art wasnt so flashy, but still pretty pleasing
cons? game overs are more common than the word "oyster" in that game, and thats saying something

fate/stay night: 9/10
pros? music is awsome, art is definately some of the best ive seen for a VN, GARness aswell
cons? some pretty stupid plot holes, like "hey im gilgamesh, i could kill you but i got the fatal-character-flaw attribute, and you got plot-immunity"

ever17: 8.5/10
pros? story was pretty epic, music was on the decent side, art was pretty good aswell
cons? voice acting was irritating at times, especially when they laughed. the plot seemed to be kinda rushed in coco's route, even if the "story from the first 4 routes were supposed to make up for that"

planetarian 8.5/10
pros? art was pretty good, plot was pretty good, music was pleasant
cons? to short, much to short, also made the plot progress a little too quick imo

>cons? to short, much to short, also made the plot progress a little too quick imo
Disagree. I think the short length worked well, as the story really wouldn't have held it for long, and being so short made it feel somewhat like a fairy tale.

That said, the rating's probably the only one not inflated past sanity.

>> No.602008

>>601993
fate/hollow ataraxia 9/10
yeah its a fan disk, but it still has plot!
pros? FUN, lots and lots of fun, mini games and such, also some awsome Avenger, and i guess the story was mindfucky nuff to make things flashy
cons? the plot in relation to fate/stay night, all the characters being fakes (except a select few)? not satisfying, and some plot holes/confusion

Hanachirasu: 7/10
pros? the art was definately something, music was so so
cons? plot sucks is plot sucks...i mean it had its awsome moments (immortal loli..) but main char being a gay trap? offputting

Clannad 8.5/10
pros? story was actually pretty good, actually had a main char with problems, unlike a lot of VNs where the main char just seems to have all this infinite wisdom when needed. + sunohara
cons? some of the art was...bad lets just say (but not nuff to make it totally whack), and having to jump from girl to girl before getting to dango? not my thing.

Air 7/10
pros? story was interesting i GUESS, Art + music on the better side
cons? the H scenes didnt fit really, felt like they just threw them in for the sake of it...not that i have a problem with H, but its preferable for it to work out in the plot somewhat. story lost some of its edge towards the end

Muv-Luv/Muv-Luv Alt: 10/10
My favorite eroge and for good reason, it's an epic tale full of awesome characters in a really well developed setting, Honestly I can't find any faults, I would really love to play another installment with the same cast.

Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo: 10/10
An eroge that is for me at the same level of awesomeness as Muv-Luv, the cast, the drama, the pacing, the writing, everything about it is great.
It's a really memorable experience.

Swan Song: 9.5/10
This one is breathtaking, very different from your usual eroge yet really endearing. The character interaction, the fact that it focus on a small group of people rather than a main protagonist, the way these characters develop in the hell they found themselves in, like Sharin this eroge is very memorable.
It does have some faults though, the true ending is very weak for one but the normal ending is awesome beyond belief.

Eien no Aselia: 9.5/10
An epic story coupled with good gameplay and a great cast, it goes beyond the cliché of the genre, for example the main character actually had to learn the language of the world he went in and fight in a war he didn't believe in just to protect his sister.
Anyways the story is extremely good and the setting really well developed.

Symphonic Rain: 9/10

Yes.

I'll try spelling it out for you...

You're missing the point, ratings inquire an average of 5, and minimum of 1, and a maximum of 10. To give a 10 is unheard of, save from something completely unflawed (In your, or general opinion). To say, "lol 10/10 but it coulda been better with this" is completely idiotic.

I'm guessing the same people that do this are the ones that would give bad games a 1-3/10 which is equally illogical. TAKE YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASS PEOPLE

Muv-Luv/Muv-Luv Alt: 6/10 and 8/10 respectively
Muv-Luv -- painfully generic highschool romance comedy with 0 drama with a sci-fi twist, Age production values keeps this from being a sub-standard game.
Alt: epic proportions, blockbuster production values and Hollywood style action sequence military sci-fi. Hurt by endless reams of useless dialogue, brutal expositions, no (good) H, and 90% crappy female characters.

Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo: 8/10
Extremely memorable, awesome protagonist, awesome antagonist, phsychological thriller with a love-conqourers-all ending -- the fandisc is a must play for a final wrap-up. Hurt by inferior scene art, few CGs, and medicore H.

Eien no Aselia: 9/10
Epic storyline, high emotional impact, lots of H, an evil route. The power of the story makes up for the dragging gameplay and low-quality art - a very rare compliment. Hurt only by a crappy ending.

Cross Channel: 6/10
Generic characterizations aren't compensated by a novel setting. Besides the setting, largely forgettable, but it does have a fairly piognant ending.

>> No.603231

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: 9.5/10
- Best eroge ever made. Great sotry, loads of drama, huge cast of female chracters most of which have routes, and usually multiple routes, emotionally powerful drama, lots of sex that actually impacts the plot. Lots of good and bad endings. Very memorable soundtrack. Top notch art and voice acting. Lots of CGs. Spawned the best eroge anime adaption ever. Art, sound, story, sex, drama -- other games have ben better than Kimiga in any one of these aspects, but no other game has reached a top-5 level of quality in all of them. The untouchable giant in the modern VN scene. Age is milking this cash cow to this very day.

Pros: Good story, fairly interesting characters, interesting world setup, one of the more original protagonists I've seen in a VN so far. Art was good, and music was good (and set up in an interesting fashion).
Cons: Protagonist whines quite a bit, pacing is off (too much time taken for the beginning and not enough at the end). Most of all, they didn't have enough character development nor enough story. Also, lack of H (one of the few games I'd say this for, actually).

Dude. Play the demo and find out.

While she is, in fact, one of the hottest female chracters in a eroge, there are other factors which will make this great:

1. Like in oher Akabeesoft games you play a strong male chracter -- in this one, you are the adopted son of a legandary gangster, you like money, power, classical music, and dressing up in a Ku-Klux-Klan hood and playing God while being begged for favors by your friends (someone post that pic). You're "job" is being your father's right-hand man, working the stock market and bashing heads. You're a genius and probably an ass-kicker too.

2. Really good detective-mystery action going on in this title. The main antagonist is the "Ma-ou", a mysterious criminal super-genius who circulates in the very top levels of society, hatching complex plots with an ultimate goal of some form of national/world domination.

3. Really good soundtrack.

4. Your dad wants you to have sex with his figure-skater daughter, because he believes women perform best while recieving cock. Did I mention your dad is awesome?

5. Great emotional sotrylines that test your morals. In the demo, your father sends you out to kick out an old man from a house that's desperately needed by a commercial developer. But that's the home of a gentle girl in your class that has an obvious crush on you. Very reminiscent of Sharin no Kuni.

Actually I thought Tamayura's protagonist was a bit of a letdown, but Syarin no Kuni's protagonist more than made up for him, and it looks like G-Senjou no Maou's protagonist will too, already wrecking the school's athletics carnival to get revenge on Kanon (a move I can support, seeing as I can't stand her voice).

2. Yes, very much so. It looks like it's going to take the awesome politic-ing of Syarin no Kuni to a new level.

3. Remixed awesome classical music, and used very appropriately.

4. Just like in Syarin no Kuni I bet you're going to be able to beat the crap out of him, too. Possibly in Kanon's chapter (I assume it's going to be a multi-chapter affair like Syarin was)

5. Also interesting was how the funds Kyosuke had stockpiled were equal to Tsubaki's brother's ransom.. and the amount that has now disappeared. Should be interesting if Kyosuke has to make a choice like that.

ALSO: Usami's holding that violin really badly in that CG.

Yes. Voice files only exist for the first demo (which is the first half of the second demo). I have no idea why this was... possibly to cut down on file size.

I'm not really into hardcore protagonists that are amazing in every way, I tend to prefer laid-back ones that can do cool shit when they need to. I might try the demo, but it doesn't sound like it's my thing.

It's more that he's a nice, refreshing change from your standard idiot protagonist who doesn't seem to have a clue.

Hey, does anyone remember this site?

It stopped actively updating its reviews around 2002 so it's an interesting relic from an era where the god status of Alicesoft and Elf was being slowly overthrown by Leaf and Key. No one had really heard of Typemoon or Nitro+ yet.

Kyosuke pretty different from Ken. Whereas Ken was trained from childhood in some kind of dystopian internal state security officer program to become a Special High-Class Person with all sorts of special rights, rules and responsabilities, Kyosuke is essentially a criminal -- a fairly high-ranking criminal, but still someone who has to deal with the police and live in the shadows, whereas Ken out-ranks the police and everyone knows who he is, and that they better listen to what he says.

While Ken is quite smart, I don't think he's near Kyosuke's level, and in terms of being multi-skilled, he's probably ontop of Ken as well except for combat and extreme survival situations. I think Kyosuke's going to end up having been tutored pretty thuroughly by his dad, and we know already he's surrounded a death, violence, and his dad's thugs.

School Days, 8.5/10
- If this were to be translated, it would be the only thing this board would talk about for months.

Summer Days: 5/10
- Glorified fandisc, terrible story, even worse system than School Days. Only hot H going for it.
