Someone posted Touhou on /v/ and people were raging like "GET THIS WEEABOO SHIT OUT OF HERE!!11" and I was like "what's this guy so mad about" so looked it up.

I knew it was a game (I was not sure what genre the games were back then) about hundreds of lolis in frilly dresses, then once I saw the bad apple video and noticed that I recognized several shadows from random pictures over the internet. Then I found touhou wikia and the games and got addicted while playing EoSD for the first time and dying several times to Patchouli.

So basically it's this, I play the games. I still don't give a shit about the doujins but I like the music remixes and some of the videos.

i've never been introduced directly, the first touhou related thing i saw was "Marisa stole the precious thing" i didn't know what the fuck it was but i liked, a few days later i saw the U.N Owen Insanity by Ronald McDonald, it was creepy and i was watching other popular video with the time, i was lurking /a/ before and sometime i was seeing some thread about "Touhou should go back to /a/" or something like that, i still didn't know what was touhou so i was curious, some people said it was /jp/ related so i clicked on /jp/ and i was surprised by the amount of ronery and fap material thread, i was scrolling until i see a touhou thread, fully explained with DL link so i downloaded one of these link, it was Perfect Cherry Blossom
i enjoyed this game and every minute of it was awesome

I was familar with Touhou in a number ways before I really knew what it was. I'd seen Inaba box (and possibly other porn), a number of Iosys flashes, Tsurupettan, UN Owen was Ronald, looked up who Flandre was only Touhouwiki and it kind of went from there.

I asked someone who knew what it was well before I did and he simply said it was a curtain fire game. I didn't quite understand what he ment, so I held off looking into the games before all the stuff above.

I was recommended to Touhou by a linkshell member about two years ago when I had mentioned enjoying STGs. Next to FFXI, the Touhou STGs are my second most played games.

The Marisa Stole the Precious Thing video was my first exposure but only because Mint made a chart for the song in his first song pack. Back then, I had no fucking clue where it was from. I was just like "Amusing animation. Terrible shame she can't sing".

My first actual exposure where I found out what the fuck Touhou was came from a youtube video by WinDEU of him doing the Extra stage of UFO. Probably wouldn't have given a rat's ass about the series if it weren't for UFO Romance in the Night Sky being a great song. Even if I hated it, I would have crossed paths again with Touhou because of Technorch making me interested in doujin music and C77 was coming around the corner. Only reason why I came to /jp/ and then /mu/ when uploads slowed down.

Still haven't touched a game because my computer is a five year-old Macbook that was given to me when my sister got something better and I don't have the money to throw around to get something that isn't complete shit.

I played Raiden II with friends at a Godfather's Pizza in town, and got on a shmup kick.
While looking for games, I ran into Samidare, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Then PCB came out, and that got pushed my way, and I enjoyed it.
Then various touhou spam across these boards made me more familiar with everything else in the series.

I noticed Touhou's existance when Aortic started translating the doujins and posting them on what is now Gaku Gaku Animal Land, one of my sources for Type Moon doujins.
From what I could glean, Touhou looked retarded. And yet people kept hijacking /a/ with Touhou shit. I always liked STGs, but I didn't want to play an untranslated game.
So, after about a year of being apathetic about Touhou's existance and butthurt about the spam, I found a translation for PCB, and discovered that Love Can Bloom in Gensokyo. Then the doujins made sense, I got into the music (Never liked IOSYS, but fuck yeah Demetori) and eventually /jp/ was born, and I've been here ever since.

Someone i really appreciated showed me the old Iosys videos like Overdrive, Donations Please and Alice Dere.
I was like "What the crap is that fuckin' shit?" But soon I found out about the games.
So I officially downloaded the songs in high quality.
Then I officially downloaded the newest game for me and her. Subterranean Animism was out for like 2 weeks or so back then.
I played it and after a month or two I was able to 1cc it on normal mode, it's still my favourite game of them all.
I think 2 years have passed and I had a huge pause playing it because of my apprenticeship. Now i'm trying to beat it on hard again since 3 months. But now since i'm unemployed, I'm playing all the other games too.
Touhou related browsing is done here, Gensokyo.org, Danbooru, Walfas; and some other minor fanpages support me with shitloads of links.
