Reisen's face is strange. Very strange. You can't figure it out. "But, the flag...?" she says.

"The flag?" For a moment you don't understand. "Oh, the flag! Really, planting the flag was just some political set-up--rubbing it in their faces, like I said." You take a cigarette from the inside of your jacket. Light it. "Basically, saying 'we got there first'--understand?"

"But you didn't get there first."

You shrug again. "Yeah, but we didn't know that, did we?"

Reisen looks at you quietly. Her expression is blank.

"What?"

"I see."

She leaves.

You shrug for a third time, and are just about to return to your cigarette when you hear a ragged scream, followed by the sound of something large being thrown against a wall, followed by another scream, and then another.

"Excuse me," Eirin says, passing you as she walks purposely down the hall.

"Sorry," you say.

"No smoking indoors."

"Sorry." You extinguish the cigarette. Eirin smiles. You smile. Eirin continues walking. Thirty seconds later, the screaming stops.

So I sort of see where you're going with this, but the style just makes it feel muddled, it's hard to decipher what you're tying to convey.

Reisen is not as useless as you put it. She was a capable soldier of the Lunarian Defense Forces, so capable in fact that they were trying to get her back just to tide the war. Comrades died and were lost to the endless cold space.

The other is that touhou, being a project so influenced by eastern culture, would have a different attitude towards smoking, unless Eirin is somehow worried about Kaguya's health or something. If anything, she would just excuse herself, whisper something to one of the many girls with floppy bunny ears and sort of vacant stares, and have her drop an ash tray next to you before excusing herself.

And I still don't get what Reisen is supposed to be doing in the next room. Punishing herself?
