I'm the same anon who was mentioning doing a piece about the SDM, pre-gensokyo.

Spoilered because I'm about to shit all over canon:
I was thinking it would be really interesting for it to turn out that Flandre is actually only Remi's half-sister. After having Remilia, her father had an affair with another woman and conceived Flandre (hence the blonde hair instead of blue)

Embarassed by the reminder of his infidelity, he kept her locked away, where she became all sorts of fucked up and unstable (Why doesn't daddy smile when he sees me?) but upon his death, reveals the secret to his first daughter. Remi is devastated and bitterly jealous, but agrees to take responsibility for Flan.

I dunno if it would just be needless drama and fanon, but I think it would be a very emotional reason for Flan to once again be locked into the basement of the SDM, not just because she's a tad kooky and likes to annihilate things.

It was just a random thought I had. That wasn't really going to be the main point of the story anyways. I was originally thinking of writing a short story from the POV of a non-mary sue character (Remi's bodyguard) who ends up eating it in Gensokyo, possibly at Sakuya's hands.

Same writefag here. So I dropped the idea of fucking with the canon, because its so polarizing to some people. It really limits your potential for experimentation at the same time, though.

Just wrote a really short story, POV of one of Remilia's old human guards from outside of Gensokyo. This is when Sakuya first came to town- a bit different than what I was originally planning, but whatever.

Also, the reason why most people on /jp/ make their projects Touhou related is because they want to avoid the debate on what is/isn't /jp/ related. If you were to make a thread asking "are original western visual novels allowed to be posted on /jp/" half would say no and the other half would say yes. KS started civil wars on /a/ and /jp/ because of this unresolved issue.

Best game to come out of C78 for me. The soundtrack is to die for, specially the boss battles.

And I think people want to make their projects touhou related is simply because they like touhou. I can deal with that, but creating ORIGINAL CHARACTERS DO NOT STEAL is where I have the most fun. I wouldn't mind working on a danmaku game based on something else /jp/ related, though. I'm just not a touhou fan.

Tiangou: Paint the Bullet is a derivative of Touhou/Ikaruga. Long story short, a game called Ikaruga has a polarity gimmick that allows the player to be invulnerable to bullets of the same polarity. Only bullets of the opposite polarity may harm the player. In layman's terms if the player has a red shield they are invulnerable to red bullets. Tiangou is based on this mechanic--except with a lot more colours.

Tiangou expands on Ikaruga's concept by allowing the player to paint incoming projectiles, which in return makes the character invulnerable to said projectiles. In addition to the ability to paint projectiles, projectiles leave behind paint trails that are harmful to the player depending on the player's colour/polarity.

In keeping with ZUN's tradition, I didn't allocate much time towards storytelling, but nothing is off the table. The only two character concepts I have at the moment are a kyourinrin (youkai) with the ability to bring her drawings to life and a kameosa (youkai) with the ability to manipulate colour. Fun fact: I created the kyourinrin's ability to counter Suigin's Ultimate Magic™.

Personally I use photoshop. I think a major part in deciding program has to do with what kind of a style you want your image in. If you really like a traditional art style, I suggest Corel Painter since it mimics traditional brushes and tools the best.
