Ultimately, you want to last as long as possible and get the most play time out of every match. Dying quickly before getting much practice in doesn't do too much good, so you should probably give yourself as much life as possible. I only put myself at half a dot to give you a chance and to keep it more fun and less frustrating. No insult intended, PoFV is great because everybody can play regardless of skill level.

Also, what I don't get is why everybody chooses Lunatic when they probably shouldn't. I really don't mind taking it easy on Normal or Hard, since they will progress to higher difficulties over time anyway. Plus, Hard has always felt more balanced as far as level 2/3 attacks go. I'm looking at you, Reimu.

The thing is, the difficulty increases as the round goes on anyway; using Lunatic just makes it start out harder instead of having to go through a boring start where no one should be getting hit. Hard should be OK too especially if both players aren't so good, using anything lower for netplay is pretty pointless though

True, but those characters still won't save you if you suck. One time I hosted and a guy connected, picked Lunatic mode, and then picked Sikieiki. Then he died within 1 minute in every round, before any spell/boss attacks or Lily White came out. Power pros.

Using super characters only really has an effect if the two people playing are at equal skill levels. I don't usually see evenly matched players going at it in these threads.

level 4 attacks are performed when your combo score reaches 100k, 300k, and 500, if I recall correctly. If you're playing on lunatic you can get up to 100k fairly quickly after the beginning.

I hope you weren't manually casting them. I don't normally watch the opponent's screen.

You get a free dragon at 100k, 300k, and 500k Tpoints. Getting the first one just requires never breaking your chain. It probably takes around 10-15 seconds if you keep destroying stuff. Later on the screen will be filled with bullets, so all you need to do is set off a large enough chain and you can get a cast real quickly. Hell, I've gone from 0-500k points from a single combo and got all 3 Dragon attacks because the AI did the same.
