Since you know more than I do about this: Is there a Japanese equivalent to a weeaboo. I.E. Someone who is obsessed with the west and has a lot of a preconceived notions of the west.

Reverse weeaboo. I don't have the pic, and would like to save it.

So there is no term for it, it's just a reverse weeaboo?

I suppose 'gaijin' counts, being usually used for foreigners, doesn't it?

>> No.593802

well, since the proper term for weeaboo is japanophile, yes, there are terms like anglophile, francophile, etc. a good deal of japanese exchange students come to my university each year and they are usually quite interested in america. they usually like things like english, american music, tv, movies, and the american house party/bar scene where it's less structured and easier to meet people than in japan. i suppose that makes them the reverse of someone of someone that studies aboard in japan because they want to have a good time and have an overall interest in japan. as far as i know however, they is no direct equivalent of a weeaboo that's socially inept and watches something like american cartoons all day long. i'm sure a few otaku over there watch a lot of american sci-fi though.

Weeaboo as it is used here (meaning Japanophile + Western Otaku) ... wouldn't that be a Japanese trekkie?

Can the Japanese even grow beards, or is that only possible if they're half-human, like with elves?

The term is yanki, and these are the Japanese people who are obsessed with American music (mainly, the rap and hip hop music).

No. Yankees are Japanese street punks. True, they prefer perm hair styles, but they also tend to be Japanese nationalists if they have any political views at all.
