I'd take her to a small church in the countryside and marry her, if you know what I mean.

You already said that. Also, sage doesn't work the way you seem to believe it does.

Also, you are a tool.

I still laugh at how 4chan doesn't understand what sage means.

If only I knew moon so I wouldn't have to spend time on a board that imports foreign concepts and then DOES IT WRONG all the time.

Using sage as a way to "insult" someone's post or thread is just completely wrong and a retarded misuse of a good feature that is so popular in sites like 2ch and Futaba. Fuck, iichan and 4-ch do it right. It's just 4chan and 4chan's lame knockoffs that fail at using sage.

The true meaning of sage means that YOUR POST isn't worthy enough to bump the thread. It's ironic, because you think that you're insulting others while you're just, in fact, insulting yourself. Yes, sage can be used when posting a derogatory comment in a thread that you don't want to bump, but posting with just the word "sage" accomplishes nothing but contribute to spamming the board. The trend of replying with the name of a tripfag and sage is even worse, as it accomplishes nothing and only serves to increase the e-penis of whoever you're "attacking".

The sage feature was never meant to serve as an implied insult or general disagreement! Why people started using it that way is beyond me. There are plenty of reasons why one would choose not to bump a thread with his reply. For example, bumping threads with stupid one liner replies should be discouraged and those people should be coerced into using sage instead.

I want to use sage, yet I almost never do it on 4chan because people will jump on me thinking I'm insulting their post or something.

Kind of like how Europeans imported gunpowder and turned them into weapons?

I think it started being an insult because of /b/. On there a well placed sage can bump a thread off of the second page which is usually death. Speaking of my experiences there 4+ years ago, I have no clue if it changed.

And this post is a good use of sage since it doesn't bring much to whatever discussion the OP intended.

imagine being in a room full of people who like sticking spoons inside their ears
you tell them spoons aren't for that, they are just for eating
and then all of them try to be badass rebels and stick another spoon inside their ears and start arguing with you about how spoons are useful when you stick them in your ears

that's the same case we have here

The Chinese had projectile weapons, they were just unwieldy as all get out. Europeans refined the technology into something useful.

I wish moot didn't apply the same rules on /jp/ seeing it's the only board that resembled prehistoric 4chan.

It will only kill a new thread, but that's not because you saged it. It's because you chose not to bump it. If you had ignored the thread, the result would have been exactly the same, except that a post wouldn't have been made.

sage is mostly harmless and can only signify that you don't want to bump the thread, which can be for a variety of reasons (you don't think your post is important enough, or you think the thread is not worth bumping, or the thread is already on the front page of a slow board, and so on).

People inflate the time they've actually spent browsing 4chan by a median of two years. This is an indisputable fact.

I have been in 4chan since september of 2003

There is a large difference between when you started browsing and the total amount of time you spent browsing. For example, I started browsing 4chan in mid 2005, but there were probably periods of months at a time when I didn't visit it at all. I've also moved boards as interests changed. It started with casual stuff like 3dpd /s/, /c/, rarely /a/, after which I came to /b/ around 3M and stopped going there after about 10M, after which I mostly stayed on /a/, until the split, and have been on /jp/ since then with a few other interest-related boards on the side. There were hiatuses of months at a time. The point I'm trying to make is that even though I probably started quite early, I may have spent less time on 4chan than someone who first visited 4chan 2 years ago, because I sometimes take months long breaks from boards if they become too bad. Sometimes they recover, other times, I forsake them forever.
