I couldn't relate to Touma as a character, and I hate Powers-that-eliminate-other-powers powers.
Which is why the end of Railgun is bullshit, including the woman in a mech suit inside and operating an even larger mech suit because subtlety is overrated.

I like Railgun better because it is generally more lighthearted and I find it combines the perfect ratio of action and slice of life in an anime. Where more of Index is focused on the plot and action. Don't get me wrong, I like Index too, but when it comes down to my favorite, it is and will always be Railgun.

Well said, that captures my feelings pretty accurately.

Also Railgun used the cool "science vs magic" setting as a backdrop rather than trying overly hard (and failing) to build a serious plot around it the way Index did/does.

From what I've seen so far I can't figure out how Index/Railgun is different from any recent JC Staff light novel adaptation (Shana, Zero no Tsukaima, Toradora). All of those were forgettable to average at best. JC Staff has always been better at adapting manga (Nodame, Aoi Hana, Honey and Clover I, etc).

I will keep watching I guess.

Shana and ZnT were butchered to hell. Toradora and Index was when they stepped up a bit, and started becoming a bit more faithful to the source material, but they're still pretty butchered. Railgun is a case of being beyond butchered, but it has characters being canonically(I think?) added to expand and build the series more or something.

But isn't it the case that they have in fact been unusually lax with Index/Railgun adaptation?
While they did follow the books, I got the impression they weren't as jung up about them that developers can be when they adapt something.
Ironically enough focusing too hard to adapt one media to another one often contributes more conversion loss then one would just focus more on catching the general premise and focus on what actually works for media B, rather than A, the fact that it may not be as true to the original truly doesn't matter as much when it comes to the final quality of the product.

Something as simple as Hrunting, Gaebolg or Excalbiur would most likely overload his syster, or for that matter possibly not even gfive a crap about it.
Ea would most likely not give a crap about it at all, and even so he could have some problems with having all reality around him being shred to shreds even so.
Caster has direct magic that doesn't care about vectors.
Zero-Rider could certainly starve him to death without much trouble, that is if not he or his friends could simply pommel himw ith something magical.

The F-15 is NOT some sort of uber Noble Phantasm. It's just a rank D ride-based NP that has high maneuverability thanks to Lancelot's enhanced berserker speed. Vimana isn't even offense-based, it's a transport system.

Counter Guardian Archer would crush them both effortlessly and it shouldn't move them up in the first place.
