Are you good at japanese?
What is the biggest tip you can give a learner?

Try playing Final fantasy 1 and translating it at the same time.
And don't learn Kanji, nobody uses Kanji these days, only hobos and whores.

Immerse yourself.

ganbare

Learn and remember the hiragana and katagana. If you can decipher the basic characters, you'll be able to search and translate the rest with a dictionary.

I'd immerse myself in that too if you know what I mean

Search the archive next time, asshat.

Get Rosetta Stone, don't take classes because they teach you the wrong things.

Watching anime is ok but try to make sure you listen while you read the subs.

You should learn the kana but don't rush, as long as you can speak it that is fine, nobody really writes things any more anyway.

tl;dr practice Kanji like you're grinding an MMO character. All day, every day, year after year.

Regarding integrating with Japanese society: don't be a fucktard, this will stand out more than being foreign. By now most people don't even give a flying fuck about someone being foreign anymore, but people will still not want to be anywhere near you if you don't act your age.

Move to Japan, immerse yourself in the language, and get a professional tutor. It's the only way.

Only good advice so far. And it applies for every other language. That is what I did. Too bad I ended up liking Japan so much and never went back to mother russia, learning moonspeack was a must.

All you need to do is immerse yourself. The other two things do not matter.

Don't look at it as learning vocab at first. Look at it as learning kanji and vocab being a part of that. You need to know the readings just as well as the words they make up, but either way make sure you learn the damn kanji. Also, try to learn similar things at the same time. For instance, take 15 kanji and learn the on reading and then learn the kun reading for it and then learn the composite words. After that move onto a new 15 kanji.
