Different, much less competent anon than the previous translator

People (women? no clue what the kanji next to 女 is) seem to enjoy reading my short stories.
Writing my next work is becoming enjoyable.

Uh... yeah. That's probably not at all what it actually means and I've run out of recognizable kanji.

Please stop translating. If you can't even guess out of context that it's kanojo (彼女), and that 'sonna kanojo' means 'that girl', your Japanese is even worse than mine, and you aren't at all able to translate something like this. Please practice some more before trying to translate a kanji-ridden text like this. (Also, since you didn't seem to recognize 'sonna', I recommend taking a look at Tae Kim's guide to Japanese grammar: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar , it's a very helpful resource.)

Why "piece"? Most people don't translate カケラ, when used in the When They Cry series, as "piece", do they?. I've usually seen it translated as "Fragment" for Higurashi- and Umineko-related stuff.

Why should I care what other people translate things into? Does it sound better? Does it make more sense? It looks good, and I don't care if they want more references to the main story.

>> No.5909260

>>5909239
It's called "being consistent". It's obvious what the intent there was (using "kakera" in the same way MARIA uses it at one point in Umineko), so you go with the established translation.

>> No.5909279

>>5909260
>I don't care if they want more references to the main story.
Consistent? I never translated the story. If I translated it then it would be consistent with what I used. If you want better translations then ask someone else then.

>> No.5909574

>>5909239
"Piece" is an ambiguous term, and in Umineko, it's a term different from kakera, referring to entities on a kakera (similar to chess pieces on a chess board).
Fragment, on the other hand, does not have this ambiguity.

The link to the original game is important because every story Hachijo has written is a kakera, therefore it's important to use at least a term that implies she's referring to the world, not the writing itself.

>> No.5909593

>>5909574
And on that subject, fragments should be plural because every story is on a different kakera.

And in case people didn't notice, this is a direct nod to how Ryukishi started writing his stories (he wrote them for his best friend BT. He recently passed away suddenly, but Ryukishi continued to write stories even now his first reader can no longer read them).
