Read again the scene when she talks with Lambda about her past, she mentioned she's not less than 34 and Bern, because she actually faced her truth and managed to overcome it.

The anime is a butchered adaptation of the first four episodes of the VN. Scenes lack the emotion they had in the VN, major plot points are omitted, and the anime rushes through the story in a way that allows no time for proper execution of any part of the story.
Play the VN first, and if you're a masochist, watch the anime after reading the first four episodes.
