>http://homepage3.nifty.com/rfish/index_e.html for 1.16

My latest character is descended from God Warmage->Catgod Archer->Yerles Tourist->Fairy Pianist. She is now a Catsister Farmer, and her goal is to "win the game", that is, clear Lesimas. Depending on how that goes, I may take her through the Chaos Forts. My other characters simply haven't tried, nor have any of them cleared Lesimas.

As a result of these successive plays, deeds of heirship are the best items in the game...never have to start out with terrible gear ever again. Just have to get some cash to work with at the beginning, teach important skills (weight lifting especially, considering the weight of the gear)

I don't particularly care if it's legit to use debug characters, what matters is if I have fun building and playing them. I'll share the experiences I had with my earlier ones if the thread wants, but I'll come right out and say Catgod was the most boring playthrough.

The Exorcist feat is by far the most important feat to start with, unless you like having your shit get cursed while you sleep.

Even cursing enemies have a hard time actually getting their curses to your gear, that's how powerful that feat is. You can still read scrolls of curse if for some reason you wanted to curse your gear.

>> No.5848483

>> No.5848489

Every time I try to start a legitimate character, platinum farming turns me off so bad and I end up cheating. I don't know how you guys can stand it.

>> No.5848569

>>5848483
Cursed whisperings are -ALWAYS- annoying. It doesn't matter how far along you are, because it means you'll always be eating scrolls of uncurse left and right.

It'll get even worse at around mid-game when enemies can start cursing your equipment, causing you to eat MORE scrolls of uncurse and thus using turns in combat to uncurse your stuff.

While these scrolls get more common as you continue throughout the game, should you find yourself unable to get any (or worse, fail to uncurse your stuff), you're going to be in big trouble, especially if you're in a tough dungeon.

>>5848489
The most grindy part of farming platinum is at the beginning, when you're first starting off. But the rewards from the job boards themselves are worth more than the platinum, you need the money to identify books, potions, scrolls, rods, and one of each type of monster part. You'll also be identifying equipment you receive as rewards (job reward items tend be slightly better than what you find in dungeons, unless you get real lucky), at least until you do low-level dungeon diving.

>> No.5848596

>>5848569
Once you get your character up and moving, and not getting killed by putits or starving to death, platinum becomes less of an issue. You'll still need it to train your skill potentials, but you don't have to farm forever. Take your time, and work up one or two skills at a time. If you find your level/fame getting too high, fail some jobs (namely, hunting quests, harvesting quests), and try to get your hands on some potions of descent to lower your level.

I was the first person to document how faith worked, then immediately after that figured out how to have every godpet in your team at once. I wonder if that "bug" is fixed now? But I also pissed a lot of people off reporting the Harvest loop and getting that fixed.

Probably, but I haven't tinkered much with the other bells in the way of gene engineering, so they mostly tickle the enemy and provide bleeding / confusion debuffs while the Twins Bell is the main artillery. I've only engineered a ring slot to it so far, and holding out for a monster that can pass on a body part without giving useless skills (wishful thinking). Actually, I thought the cursed attribute scrolls would do away with it but someone in the thread said it only decreased the skill level by one. Can it remove the skill entirely once it's at its lowest?

They've persisted after closing the game. Makes me wonder, recently I encountered the wish splitters in a dungeon after seeing one in a moongate, but I'm sure I didn't touch any summoning crystal. I assume they would end up with the same fate, but no way of telling now because I moved to the latest version and didn't keep any of the custom user files. I would have felt bad about breaking the game so instead I wished for a bunch of furniture and an altar made somewhat portable at 112.5s.

Too bad XI was a complete piece of shit and nothing could save that game. The controls were absolutely godawful and optimized for a gamepad so it made combat really terrible for a MMO. The bosses were boring as hell, the endgame was almosta bsent and the (LEVELLING!) grind took years.

Oh and XIV is optimizedl ike complete ass so you need a computer that's about 10 times bettert han what you should really need to run the game.

The pets you get from diarys and the little girl all primarily melee. The young lady does a few other things, but rather rarely. The only things they'll ever use ranged weapons on are things that may hurt them if they hit it directly like slimes or hedgehogs.

Also I've finally properly equipped all of my pets. Well besides the bell and horse. I still doubt the survivability of anything besides the bell and horse in level 25+ dungeons though.

>> No.5852740

It depends on your definition of properly equipped, and your playstyle.
>>5848577
These are my pets.

I almost basically never lost Ran, rarely lost Chen, and really rarely lost any pets in level 50+ dungeons.
There are three tricks:
1. Cheer is incredibly strong with high charisma. Bonuses and duration go up. You can use it every time it wears off without running out of stamina with enough charisma. This move is basically required for a pet user.
2. The aoe healing spell. I forget the name. It has been 2 years. But if you get good with the spell you can patch up a lot of damage almost instantly.
3. Equipping the pets properly. Pets work differently than player characters. You should be optimizing survivability. I recommend using Crimson/Rubynus platemail, as it really maxes out hp. All pets can cast 100% in platemail, so pay no heed to giving casters light gear.

If you do all of those then your pets will act as a giant ball of ablative armor for your main character, buffed up, high hp, easy to heal mass that does damage to enemies and protects you. If done properly you'll play like one organism that has 10,000+ health and can heal 1000-2000 a turn.

Really? I find that I encounter them in the wild often enough (for a rare spawn, that is) to get a pet or two. Now that I have a silver bell, I kind of want to ditch my golden one. Except I made them use custom sprites (like your character, same thing I do with my little girl) and made them use color themes and now I don't want to lose them (plus I haven't found a decent ranged replacement yet).

On another note, tips on how to raise my attributes? I haven't been able to do much with them other than mutations. Maybe I should just rush to pass on stuff to my heir. It took me this long just to get fairly decent gear, and I'm still not fully outfitted (fairy).

Yeah, the place is messy because I don't have enough gold yet to really go hog-wild with decorating properly. I'm just going for rank.

Thoughts? Be reborn as a fairy wizard, and bequeath fair starting gear? Things I should do if I pass on stuff? I already plan to capture a silver bell or two, and maybe go after all the remaining static silver medals and get a cat sister's diary to pass on as well (not sure if it's precious).

Picture is me with my little girl, and the silver and gold bells above in our house.

That's your problem right there. Speed is nice and all, but in 1.22, you can eat speed rings for speed (turn them raw with inferior scroll, then eat). You don't want to be restricted by your 1.0 gear weight, most good armor weight much more than that, and if they don't, they're not at full potential. How do you stand the endless *ring* *ring* by the way? I personally can't when I still had my gold bell waifu, and I had to tell her to shut up. As for things to pass on, I'd say you should stock up some scroll of ally for easy bell pet imo, a huge stack of oracle/knowledge/etc to sell back for gold, and tons of potion of cure corruption just to burn up your casino chips.

Hey, I like the challenge of a one stone limit, although it is annoying when you absolutely can't equip some things. Still, I have good gear to pass on to any character.

Is that speed thing true? Do you get the full speed value of the ring? I'm guessing it works for other gear that boosts speed independent of material, and that it works for other attributes. Very cool. I'll definitely keep that in mind for passing stuff on. Maybe I should reincarnate as an Elea.

The trick to playing a fairy:

Get a _massive_ number of change material scrolls. You don't need a castle with stairs, you need more change material scrolls.

Then get a bottle of water and drop it on your god's altar to bless it. Then mix with the stack of change material scrolls, the entire group now acts as superior material. Then all you do is apply to equipment over and over until you get something lightweight like dawn cloth.

The added bonus is that you can also use this to crank out epic gear for your pets, and upgrade your house to a very high level. Those who hack for fun can use cheat engine or the number-changer of their choice to increase the size of their scroll stack, thus giving themselves enough scrolls to rework all their items without the grinding.

99 wish items hack:
If you can manage to isolate the memory address, you can even wish for a potion of potential then give yourself many from one. Get one, search for 1, drink it, search for 0, forcequit and reload, search for 1; Elona retains memory addresses even after shutoff. You can go from having 0 in your inventory to having 99 as long as you change the appropriate address.

Breeding and 'making a gene' are completely separate. Breeding is based on the breed rate, which shows when you assign the breeder on the ranch. For inheritance, all I've noticed is the heirlooms and some of the raw materials, no other changes. Who you make the gene thus seems to have no effect.

You can apparently get the begger's pendant to come with if you use a certain item on your parent character. I changed a character's speed to 100.000(100%) for this so the actual gain is about 1/4 of what a real character would get since they seem to start with a potential of 400.
First up a ring with a value of 500 in speed (Gives +11 in actual speed), and went to 100.068(100)
Then I reset back to 100.000(100%) and tried a value of 1000 (+21) and went up to 100.131(100%)
Set back to the starting value and tried a value of 2000 (+41), this gave 100.256(100%)

When you get a message like 'you feel a wave of good luck pass by' it means you would have gotten a wish, but the game made a second diceroll based on your previous wish total and you failed. Each wish you've had decreases your chance of getting another wish in the future, and each year that passes *partially* recovers this - not fully.

In other words, you really want to refrain from having wasted wishes.

Wish 1: happy bed
(Boosts potential gains and other good sleep effects, the sooner you get it the better)

Wish 2: seven league boots
(Makes it easier to complete traveling quests)

Wish 3: vindale
(Gives you a cloak that slows the ether disease, which is the main point of the game story. It's like a passive cure corruption enchant.)

Wish 4: dungeon:
(Gives you a really big map to design as you please with the house board. Functions as a storehouse ingamme, but has a very large amount of space if you want to play with a large area.)

Wish 5+ (or earlier if you don't want or have inherited any of the above:) skill of your choice.

I still remember the first time I summoned a shub-niggurath in Palmia. By the end of it, I had dug all the walls out, most of the people were dead or insane, there were dozens of monsters everywhere and most of the town was on fire (and acid).

She's a gold bell from one of the moongates. All gold bell have 1 life base, and I would assume she is the same. Gold bell, however, only have 600-ish speed, and they're already game wrecking since they heal so fast, dodge so well, and have insane resistance to most damage. To make things worse, her perception is over 100s.

Look for "summoning crystals" in the moongates. They let you "summon" the monster into your world, and if they're under your level, you can buy them directly at slave master. They'll also spawn randomly in dungeons of their level, as hostile or neutral, depending the type.

Apparently letting the putits in the tutorial attack you until you're level 2 gives you a "Failed to load map" error, at least that's the only thing I can think that caused it for me. Maybe not specifically the level, but the skill levels or something.

Either way, started again without the putit nonsense and it worked just fine.

The human eating mutation doesn't cause that. You're just eating cursed food. If you find a random food item and your pets won't eat it then it's cursed. Either that or your pets have already eaten recently.
