I was ripping images from Subterranean Animism and I noticed this picture under "card".

So, why is there a cat in Okuu's spellcard?

>> No.5839553

Shrinemaiden quality thread.

>Utsuho's spellcard background in Subterranean Animism and Double Spoiler has a real-world picture of a cat on it. One reason ZUN might have included this in the background could be because of the wild cats that have colonized the abandoned city of Pripyat'. Pripyat' was in close proximity to Chernobyl, and after the catastrophe there the population was evacuated. Recent excursions back into the ghost town lead to the discovery of a small community of irradiated wild cats that live comfortably in the foundations of abandoned homes.

I've read this before, but prior to reading it, I thought the cat was just there because she's friends with Orin.

Shouldn't they be suffering from many shit? Also, I think ZUN likes cats.

LOL. WHAT.

IT'S A PICTURE OF A FUCKING CAT. Visual novel companies have been taking photos of random shit and slightly modifying them for YEARS to include in their games... this is no different. Can you not see that the title screens are also just manipulated imagery?

Keep in mind that this is just fans speculation, since as far as I remember ZUN never gave any official explanation. The truth might be way more shallow.

This is pretty old, like a week after SA's release. Iirc, we concluded it was Schrödinger's cat.

or zun just put in a cat because i honestly don't think that man spends a second of his life sober

A cat in Okuu's spellcard is predictible, the galaxy is semi-related, but... a printed circuit board? Even if ZUN wanted to relate it as a form of electrical energy...

Haha. I chuckled. Yeah, over-analyzing bullet hell shmups by extracting material that wasn't intended to be seen by the public, then creating a theory based on no evidence and what is--essentially--out of thin air, is a totally logical explanation as to why there's a plain and simple image of a fucking cat added as scenery.

I really pity anyone who thinks that a doujin game maker (or even mediocre developers like Nitroplus, who use real-life photography and modify them (poorly--to the point where the camera model is still detected)) is going to put something in their game which references something else, hide it from the public, and hope people catch on.

Early Apples weren't popular anywhere outside the US.

Why would you look at a board full of dips and assume its an Apple? The US isn't the whole fucking world you know.

Design a circuit to read a ROM. Compile a game and upload all the game data into a ROM soldered in a PCB with an EEPROM to save some usefull data (also called "cartdrige"). Then shell both of them. Now you have avoided all the piracy of the world!
