Hey /jp/. Newfag here.

I'm going on a trip with the folks to Japan (Australia after) and I believe we're going to spend a week in Tokyo and then a week somewhere in Kyoto. Have any of you been to Japan or live there currently? I've heard stories that Japan thinks that anyone from the West are fat annoying otakus and will avoid them/judge them. Is this true?

I'll be honest, I assumed you were a fat annoying otaku when I saw your image and read "I'm going on a trip with the folks to Japan".
Stereotyping is universal, and of course Japan's xenophobia is formidable. Just don't be fat and annoying and you should be treated civilly, at least.

Yeah sorry about the picture, I'm really not into anime and it's the closest thing I have to it. I'm just going on one last vacation with my parents before I go off to college.
