You know it's funny, some parts of Zun's art are quite well done, but other parts are just atrocious. If he just had some formal artistic training, he would know NEVER to draw eyes on a tangent with the rest of the skull, for instance. Someone just needs to send him a basic art and anatomy text.

It's probably a personal thing for him, too. He'd rather have the games be there for the gameplay, not the characters. If people take his characters and draw them better, more power to them. He probably spends a considerable amount of time composing the music and working out the bullet patterns for his characters, considering their cut-ins and sprites to be a minor afterthought.

I was redirected from /a/ to you, since in their oppiinon their board has become a shithole. Luckily, this one is not (at least I hope so!). However, this is what I basically wrote:

Also regarding his artwork, I think it's very funny that his artwork looks like that of a child, yet the gameplay, music, and game engine are ridiculously refined, more so than most games I've seen.
Stuff like Native Faith is so complex that it must have been a feat of strength to compose it.
And yet we have babby's first anime drawings in every game.

Hirasaka could have actually made a better picture of Cirno for the main menu, to be honest that looks pretty bad though I like his art. About the game itself, I'm really glad SaBND is the first written work to break the barrier of games/written. Hopefully this will speed up the translation of the manga a bit.

If the freezing mechanic turns out to be interesting then I'm fine with it. Can't fault ZUN for wanting to do something original, can you? Well maybe you sort of can for making it a Cirno game, but still. He should have just had a few more beers and made up a new ice Touhou as the main, imo. I bet we'd be all over it with speculation and curiosity if he did.

Hell, maybe he'll finally draw Daiyousei and give her a name; that's the least he could do in a game all about fucking Cirno.
