My brother and his girlfriend are eating in the kitchen right now and I'm thirsty.

the other day, one of my roomates woke me because I was snoring, if he had been polite I wouldn't mind, but the motherfucker woke me by hitting my bed, so I said him that if he did that again, I would fucking punch him to death.

I've slept peacefully since then, but he's not my "friend" anymore... woop doop I don't give a fuck.

It's pretty simple, I sort of have this too. I hate to be seen by people I don't know, to the point that I avoid places they're at. I feel like they're gonna make fun of me or something, so I avoid them and they don't mention me.

Just say "Hey guys" and hold up your hand and continue with your business. Is that so hard?

>> No.5766865

>>5766849

It might not be hard for you, but like I said, if you're one of those people that just hate even being seen by other people, then it's a pretty big deal.

We feel like even if we simply look at them, they'll have a reason to stop what they're doing and make fun of us.

>> No.5766876

>>5766865
They already have that reason because you act so awkwardly around them. Your whole act of trying to, I dunno, "not be seen" makes you look like a weirdo and a prime candidate for belittlement.

I don't think that's our fault. We're just trying to be left alone when they suddenly decide to pick on us. Sure, it's society these days, but when you suddenly feel the urge to piss off a dude who's just trying to chill, there's something wrong with your attitude.

The thing is, your "solution" is terrible. It's like... you were bitten by a dog, because you acted frightedly around it. You don't want to be bitten by a dog again, so you do the exact same thing that got you bit in the first place to try to fend it off!

It's just stupid. You, with your intellectual capabilities, should be able to see what you're doing is just dumb.

>> No.5766921

>>5766894
It's not something that can easily be understood by someone who hasn't experienced it. It's like any other phobia, really. Even if logically you know your fear is irrational, it doesn't do shit to help.

>> No.5766927

>>5766919
It's nothing to do with "trying to fend it off." Even if you know that acting scared around dogs is going to make things worse, it's still not easy to force yourself to be calm.

>> No.5766930

>>5766901
That's because human nature is horrible and some people seem to have some trigger that if someone acts the way you do, they feel some sort of "need" to bully that person. Yes, they are fucked in the head more than you are, probably. But this is still reality and the only solution to YOUR problem is to stop triggering them.

Uhh, who says I haven't experienced it? I am willing to bet I experienced far worse bullying and belittlement than you ever had, for years on end too. If you can only name one instance like that that scarred you so much...

And yes, the solution IS to realize that it does indeed matter shit. That's what psychologists will try to make you understand as well, to stop caring about it.

>> No.5766976

>>5766927
That's true. But it's something you have to "practice". If you just run away from dogs all the time you will always be frightened and have a good chance of being bit again. If you get your own dog (that's what I did too, and it's a cliche, but it really does help you get over fear of dogs) you learn to act normal around them and eventually stop being scared of them.

Now this isn't as easy with people of course. It's not like trying to hang out with people who bully you is a smart idea. But hanging out with normal people is.

I've been waking up, spending time on the computer and avoiding people for 6 odd years now. It gets much easier in the future, OP.

After a while you stop caring about everything, from your hygiene to prospects for your life 25 years from now.

Yes, that's true. And phobia cannot really be understood, I don't even understand the reasons for some of my OCD myself (they say it's rooted in fear).
