Already read/reading through at least half of those, any particular ones people here might suggest?

>>5721002
I might look into reading Index and hope it's not as bad as the anime makes it out to be. Also read bake, and halfway through katana. Should probably get to reading zaregoto.

My favorite resource for light novels. Most of the ones with 3 stars are worth taking a look at.

You didn't think hard enough, then.

Akane was Kanami and Kanami was Akane. It's implied that the woman who was originally pretending to be Akane has been switching with famous people for years, including the 'real' Akane, and that Shinya has been by her side throughout all of that. Therefore, the nameless woman who became Akane and then Kanami is 'a genius at becoming other people'.

Also, Jun is a badass.

I asid after the 6th because that's what the anime adapts, not really badly, but not good either. They are all world-setting, ESP, magicians, angels, fabricated angels, crowley, alchemy, the main characters, after that one you can feel the plot starting to advance.
Then you get to good arcs like the Italy one and the whole build-up, the war, Russia and the side novels with the other MCs.

That's what I had thought, but I was a bit wtf is this shit for 5 minutes.

How is it compared to the anime? I disliked the anime, but I think that's mostly due to SHAFT shenanigans, so I want to try out the novels instead when I know the language well enough.

If you liked the characters, the interactions and the endless (not really) dialogues, you'll like it.
Kizumonogatari features the best character in the whole thing, because she's awesome.

Excellent. Kizumono is actually the one I bought a while ago since I wanted to give the novels a try, but been too intimated to actually read it, since all I have experience reading untranslated are eroge and manga.

Not too sure either, but I think it's related to popularity. Checking those out allows you to see what's generally worth mentioning, and you can see ratings and reviews for some little more in-depth information on whether it's worth actually reading.

>> No.5721302

Read the one with the angel fall arc, the one with the body change and of course the last one with Kazakiri Hyoka, some things weren't explained well.
You can skip the second completely, the author said it was bad and that vampires and alchemy wouldn't ever appear again.
So that makes 4&6th volumes and if youn liked them, read the 1st and the 3rd, if not, go to the 7th for more Kanzaki, 8th isn't that good, then 9-11 I liked them a lot and after the first SS one I've found them good.

I would certainly hope so, but when reading through the first 3 sentences, I find 7 kanji that I'd have to look up. Would be highly preferable to reduce that number to 0 before starting, even though I'm looking forward to being able to start it.

Hm, maybe it was counterproductive to buy novels in order to motivate me to work harder on the language so the money don't go to waste. It's extremely luxurious to be able to open it in firefox and use rikaichan and/or furigana inserter.
