Back when i was a kid we always played this as a roll and buy everything you can game.

Then i learned that the rules encourage you to barter land, undercut people in trouble, and act like a general money grubbing jew.

People stopped wanting to play with me.

Monopoly's a boring, shitty game, even for a board game.
No, seriously; I've even read a comment in an article somewhere by a hardcore board game player (yes, apparently there is such a thing. What a boring, useless life that must be...) that compared it to Microsoft in that there's so many people who are playing it, but that it's a drawn out utter shit game.
When you start to lose a game of a monopoly, that's it; You've lost already. Then you have to sit through 90% of the game just waiting for it to fucking be over.

Pointless, highly luck-based game where even the game board itself looks a ugly and boring.

Some day, they will use a fixed, automated game of monopoly as a form of torture to dispirit war prisoners from trying to escape.

And you know, they won't even change much.
Just make the first three land on the right square and the rest can be left up to the CPU...

It was something more specific than just Chess.
Of course, I would guess that people on /jp/ would probably play some of those games as we tend to like things that involve strategy, but this guy wasn't like that....

You're not the only chess player here then. Don't make me laugh by implying that only classy gentlemen play it, because conventional chess is not that complex, honestly. It simply enjoys being the best-known, time-hallowed strategy thinkers' battle of wits. Starcraft has more strategy than chess.

Yet, I also know how to play Monopoly. That being said, I fucking hate Monopoly, even if it has Touhous.

For those who have never played it (possibly due to having been raised by wolves or something), it always sounds like a fun game to play at first, because you get that entrepreneurial rush that you could probably own the shit out of everyone else at it.. and then it drags on and on two to five+ hours past the point of being interesting, and people desperately cling onto the game as one person (sometimes not you) buys out everyone. It is one of the only games I've ever seen that's guaranteed to make you hate the ever-loving shit out of even a best friend for at least a day or two, if he happens to be the fucking asshole who buys out everything.

Yeah, I have some friends who treat it like it's the best fucking board game ever, they aren't complete Jews about trading but still play like fucking assholes (i.e one gets doubles and lands on a space I own, so they roll as fast as possible before I can call rent)

since no one likes trading unless it's to their advantage it usually boils down to complete luck, I was in dead last this game but bet all my money on my only properties, Boardwalk and Park Place and my friends got hit with it twice

tl;dr Monopoly is indeed an unfun game, but even classy gentlemen should be capable of knowing how to play
