GGs Beikho. It's refreshing not having to fight Youmu after Youmu after Youmu (with some Sakuyas and Patchys throw in for good measure). I wish there were just a bit more diverse selection of characters people mained around here.
For example, of all the people I've fought so far, I've had the best Yukari. And that's sad.

I didn't say I was good, haha. Mediocre AT BEST.

I stopped playing so frequently because I don't really ever get better at fighters, so I plataeu and I think my record for fights here is something like 3 wins 200 losses. All I know for sure are the wins.

I seem to have that problem with Touhou in general, I can do hard but can't make the transition to lunatic.

Ain't about how much you play, it's about the mindset you approach the game with. If you're focusing on combos and stuff, you're probably looking at the wrong things if you really want to learn the genre. Learning to be economical with movements and actions, so you hit them without getting hit yourself, is really the first important step.

The fastest way to beat another air melee attack... is to simply go up there and beat them to the punch. Boom, stars flying everywhere. Same applies to any melee really, but it's especially telegraphed in the air. The trick is making the opponent think that it's not such a good idea to try to do that, then you've moved up a level.

Meiling j.a is BEST used on ground-based opponents. Image shows hitboxes - it doesn't actually hit when it's moving between the two points. For air to air confrontation, unless you can time it so that the second hit smacks someone above you, just stick to j.b.

And, uh, if you mean if it's unblockable, no, it isn't.

The only true unblockables in this game are Youmu's throw, most ground based melee can't be airblocked, and for some reason giant-form Suika's horn. Everything else can be blocked. Rule of thumb is that if it brings you into the air, it can be airblocked. Like Reimu 6b and 6db can be, but all the rest of her ground melee can't be blocked in the air.

No big deal on the blocking all the time either, I burn out when playing people who are better after awhile, so I know how that goes. And I like it when people block anyway, 'cause it gets damned boring frame trapping all match long.

I need more experience vs Suikas, they don't really show up much and when they do it's kind of "what are you thinking" in the strategical department.
