For the first two episodes, the second twilight is when things pick up and don't slow down again.

Also, for the most part, Umineko gets progressively more entertaining and interesting as it goes on. Despite some writing inconsistencies. Boring parts never completely vanish (save for episode 4, which was awesome throughout), but they become much fewer and father between.

So if Shannon is Beatrice, are we going to have Battler x Shannon in EP7?

>> No.5664453

WHY SHANNON IS BEATRICE FOR THE MOST RETARDED.
Episode 6: We have the flashback of 6 years ago with "Beatrice" talking to Battler.
Battler talk to this "Beatrice" about his favorite kind of girl and joke around in english.

Different scene, George remember about 6+ years ago, how he was jealous of Battler and we see a scene of Battler and Shannon talking and laughing together.

Different scene, Battler talks about how he was shy as a kid and how he lied to the girl he liked saying he liked a different kind of girl.

Now episode 3: Battler states CLEARLY that Shannon was his first love.
Shannon also states CLEARLY that he used to joke around in english with her all the time and that he promised to come back for her on a white horse.

Episode 4: "Beatrice" talks to about how Battler used to talk in english and how his favorite kind of girls is blond and busty.

NOW I WONDER WHO THAT BEATRICE BATTLER TALKED TO IN EPISODE 6 COULD BE.

Should I do the same for Shannon and Kanon considering some people still don't want to believe in it?

If you go by Shanon = Kanon then I guess you could even arguet hat Kanon could have Shanon's corpse so that Shanon would miss one.

I believe Kanon is highly suspicious though.
In episode 4 His corpse was never found so Beatrice even went as far as saying that he was truly dead in red instead
In episode 2 They did find him but then Beatrice made him "magically dissapear" with "magic" and declared his death in red and later he was never found.

I am only 99%sure though. I still hope for a miracle by R07.

Kanon is apparently in the closed room by it is only stated with "everyone".
So the obvious get around with this is Kanon was never there in the first place.
He is in Shannon head at the moment. People just do no vanish suddenly. Since Kanon was never stated to be in the other room, it dodges Dlanor blue window seal since Beato didnt need to explain to Erika how someone escaped from Shannon room.

The rest are easy. Went in to Battler closed room, saved him and hide as Shannon or Beatrice under the bed.

Shanon played dead in the back and Hideyoshi either only thought she was dead or he lied. The choice to be "part" of the first deaths might also been an idea as she could see Battler's and everyone else's reactions.
Shanon was the one who taught maria magic, and she have also seen her notebook. Maria would recognize it and put Beatrice and Kinzo into discussion
-Next-
Shanon killed both of them (Hideyoshi might have seen something he shouldn't) and then Kanon and Genji went to check on Hideyoshi and Eva, they don't answer and Kanon surprisingly found an envelope which makes everyone worried.
Genji uses the master key but is stopped because of the chain and so they both leave in order to get proper tools.
Shanon sneaks out of the room, paints a horrid magic circle on the door, re-enters the room, locks the chain and hides.
-Next-
Kanon checks on the stench in the boiler room, and then goes against Beatrice for the sake of Shanon and he wants everyone to ferfeit by striking the '0' on the roulete, and he died, and presumebly Shanon ran off and fled into the garden.
and Kinzo's body or fake body is found.

The letter warns them that they don't have much time left and that it's naive to think that they could run away after the storm had passed.
It also said that there will be no draw, either they all or she wins, and if time runs out she wins.
Then the servants or some of them either played dead or was killed by Shanon, Maria was told to sing, and Shanon used the phone to call Kinzo's study.
They all rushed out and found Genji and the others dead, another letter, and Maria.

-Next-
Natsuhi disapeared after she quitly read the letter, she ran out chekced the situation, then she shot herself rather than being killed by Beatrice.
The children ran out not and other than Maria not understanding anything.
Maria wrote her message and put in a bottle, she knew they were going to die, yet she wanted someone to find out about the truth.

Welcome to post-ep4 Umineko discussion.
As you might have noticed in Ange's perspective, landslides have occurred on Rokkenjima between 1986 and 1998 (making it impossible for Ange to reach the mansion). If one of those had occured on October 5th, it could've been an instant death to everyone in the mansion. Such a landslide could have been caused by a typhoon. If you look at typhoon naming conventions, 'Beatrice' wouldn't be an unusual name for a typhoon.

Gonna say this again about the mantra "without love, it cannot be seen".

Do these words play into the epitaph? What are the characters for "love" and "seen"?

Anyway, as far as the Beatrice vs Virgilia battle, y'all are forgetting that Kanon saw Kumasawa as his "mother" of sorts. I'm wagering it was detailing the conflict of Kumasawa vs Shannon on committing the murders.

Anyway, say we have found the culprit.

Say we can explain all the mysteries.

Why would Shannon go around and kill these people who she either used to love or doesn't hate? Does she really believe they will all be resurrected in the "golden land"? What about those numbers, what the hell is the significance of those? What is that explosion referring to? Why were no bodies found when the investigation team arrived in ep 1?

For the sake of everyone's sanity, I think I'll start clarifying a few things so we can all be on the same page.

First of all: Erika. While I haven't seen that particular theory here yet, on some of the other discussion boards they are STILL talking about whether Erika even exists on the game board or not. While I think that for the most part the people here aren't that thick headed, I'll make this clear- In Episodes 5 and 6 Erika made it to the island alive. She was the 'uninvited guest, the 18th person, and the detective'. So let us leave that particular topic be. Now, some folks have argued that her presence was categorically denied by the red in Episodes 3 and 4. So that brings me to the next point:

All of these stories are fiction. Episodes 5 and 6 were written by Hachijo after the fact, and she inserted Erika into those tales to satisfy her own purposes. As for the first 4 Episodes, at least the first two were written by 'Ushiromiya Maria', with the next two being debatable about their origins.

So why doesn't Erika appear in those tales? Simply put, because she CAN'T. 'Maria's' message bottles could only have realistically been written BEFORE the last family conference. Therefore, there was no way she could have predicted that a seemingly random person might wash ashore after the storm arrived. The writer of the 3rd and 4th tales didn't know either (or maybe they aren't Forgeries at all), or else he or she didn't consider the possibility.

So, it is entirely possible that Erika made it to Rokkenjima alive. And entirely possible she didn't.

Another point: Sakutarou.

Alot of debate went on about 'What did Ange see in the boathouse durrhurr' and even now there I'm not sensing a clear understanding of things.

So first, the obvious: Ange found Sakutarou in the boathouse.

Next, the not so obvious: Ange did NOT repair Sakutarou. As was stated, Rosa, his creator, denied him. Thus, only SHE could have repaired him.

The way I see it is like so: Rosa, guilty over what she did, secretly gathers up Sakutarou's remains and repairs him shortly before the family conference. But she decides against giving him to Maria right away, because she's frustrated at Maria's behavior, and is afraid Maria will embarrass her if she has her stuffed lion back.

So, she asks the captain to hold on to him during the conference so she can give him to Maria on the way back, not realizing that Maria is already so far off the deep end that she's conspiring with a mass murderer...

Every single 'best mom ever' scene has been unwitnessed. Even Sakutarou has been revealed to be only a mass-manufactured plushie. Rosa's love towards Maria is nothing more than Maria's delusion.
On the other hand, Battler himself has personally witnessed Rosa abusing Maria.

Rosa does not love Maria, confirmed. Rosa is the best mom ever, completely denied. Any questions?

I don't believe it was directly stated that Hachijo wrote Eps 3 and 4. And it was implied that there was some debate as to the authenticity of those Eps. Ange sought her out because her Forgeries were the most enlightened of all the ones she read (implying there are others as well).

Whether Hachijo wrote Eps 3 and 4 doesn't really matter anyway. She wrote Erika into 5 and 6, and not into her previous ones.

The point I'm trying to make is that Erika's presence on the island is perfectly valid.

Sayo is in a sick house, her illness developed to a point where she has a huge role playing game all by herself, partly to run away from the truth, partly because she blames herself.
Anyways her DID got much worse and now lots of various personalities fight within her mind.
The personalities are Beatrice, only personality who "survived" Rokkenjima, she knows the truth and want to die for all she did.
Battler, personality who was created because Sayo blamed herself for all she did.
Battler is the one who want to protect everyone, a knight in shining armor, that's why Sayo chose him.
Bern and Lambda were created probably due to Hachijou's influence, Hachijou wanted Sayo to get the game going so she made her read lots of mystery books, Sayo created them using the novel of Higurashi as a reference.

Anyways Hachijou knows her and go look at Sayo's game of pretend to amuse herself, after realizing the truth she rearranged Sayo's gibberish into episode 3-6, that's how she observes the "meta-world" and the gameboard.

Hachijou wanting to amuse herself even further talk to Sayo about a girl who has drowned when the incident takes place.
One of the personality of Sayo who went to destroy this game, Bern, decide to use this girl for the game, that's how Erika came on the gameboard.

Basically Umineko is one big selfcest party.

There is some text in episode 6 something of the effect to "giving meaning to a toy mass produced like it was unique" meant the lion; as in, Rosa never 'made' the lion, it was mass produced, and was only unique in that it was the lion Rosa gave Maria. I mean, if there weren't 18 (or more) people in Rokkenjima, Erika wouldn't be able to say that she was the 18th and, on the other hand, saying that there are 17 people would be possible if there was a 18th...

Disregarding all the bad directing, screenplay and music usage - first: Higurashi is easier to adapt since its not as complex as Umineko. Second: Umineko was plagued by efforts of making "another Higurashi" with screaming lolis murdering themselves. So they pushed completely wrong aspects of the story forward while skipping all stuff that made Umineko Umineko.
Thats why Higurashi can be decent anime and Umineko cant.

Higurashi was much more suitable to be made into an anime. I never thought that the VNs would contain so much slice-of-life rubbish, to a point where it would often make up a third of an arc before things began rolling. It was easy enough to get rid of most of the slice-of-life rubbish, and the parts in between chapters, which dealt with behind the scenes stuff.

Even if we don't go in the "like-dislike" type of faggotry, the characters of Higurashi felt far more complex to me.
Umineko is too straigthforward in its characterization, what you see is mostly what you get which is kinda annoying.
Even the characters who get the spotlight like Eva, Rosa, Maria or Natsuhi for example aren't characterized in any interesting way.
You learn pretty much everything about Maria in the first episode, you can see everything about her relationship with her mother by the second which make episode 4 quite redundant, Eva and Natsuhi's characterization isn't any different from what one expect as well.
Only character who feel complex so far is Beatrice but it's more due to her place in the story, she is supposed to be the mystery of Rokkenjima after all.

Compared to this, the cast of Higurashi felt far more complex. They all had lots of different sides which made them quite entertaining to watch.
