First, it's a tourist trap. Doesn't prevent it from being a place where I go do a lot of my shopping for hard-to-find merch...but there are more honkies there than Japanese. If you want to find actual shopping without people who are just there for LOLMAIDCAFES, try Nakano Broadway. It has less of the tourism taint.

Okay, I don't know about Austria and South Africa but I guess Japan is less racist than them then.

Japan doesn't have a large enough number of foreigners for most people to give a shit. There are some people who are racist against Koreans, but that's about it. Being the nerd I am I hang out with a lot of 2channelers, and occasionally the conversation turns to the anti-Korean sentiment of 2ch and the outcome of the conversation is always something along the lines of "lol yeah I make fun of Coreans online, but I'm not really racist I just do it for the lulz." In other words, 2ch's supposed racism against Korea is similar to the fashion in which /b/ makes a bunch of nigger jokes despite the fact that only a small number of /b/tards are actually serious racists.

As for racism against white people, it's pretty much non-existent, if for no other reason than that there just aren't enough of us to inspire any kind of hatred in most people. All the "filthy gaijin pig" stuff you hear on 4chan is just a troll against weeaboos. The truth is that most Japanese don't care about white people enough to hate them.

I guess so, if you consider things like offering English menus to white people "racist." The thing is that most Japanese people would see such an action as good manners, i.e. the waiter actually took the time to think about the fact that since the customer is white he or she might not speak Japanese = good service. Americans, however, consider any kind of reaction whatsoever to the race of an individual to be "racist." If anything is to be blamed in such a situation, it's the cultural difference between a country that's full of immigrants and a country that's mostly made up of natives. Personally I think that this kind of thing is completely unrelated to "racism" as in racial hatred and thus cannot be labeled as such.

>>5664359

Any serious racism towards immigrants is usually the result of said race significantly messing up your country. Liberals like to ignore the fact, because they don't want anything that could even hint to racism being reasonable, but it's not like Germany just suddenly decided it was cool to hate on the Jews because they had different roots.

Whites don't really have any such history in Japan, so the only ones who have anything against them are the few who buy those bullshit statistics about foreign involvement in crime.

Agree with you 100%. The West is so afraid of the "racism" label that they've mostly chosen to completely ignore the fact, but the truth is that most racism doesn't happen without a good solid reason. Yes, believing that people of a certain race are inherently bad or evil is pretty screwy, but believing that the overall impact of a certain group of people immigrating to a certain country might be negative is nothing but pure logic. Stereotyping and baseless hatred coming about as a result of other races immigrating to a country is unfortunate, but the fact that said immigration is the direct cause of many social problems remains unchanged.

From what I hear, a quite significant amount of the foreign crime statistics are stuff like Chinese illegal immigrants and stuff, which has nothing to do with Americans or Europeans raping their women and beating up their men.

However, those who dislike foreigners will prefer to present those statistics with the crimes lumped together, because 1000 crimes sound worse than 995 deportations and 5 robberies, and lumping all foreigners into the same category, so they can hate on whites just as much as they can hate on chinks.
