Are there any translated action visual novels? Something with a cunning protagonist, not a hapless hero or random college/HS kid like in most of them.

I was thinking Tsukihime to be the only one, but there might be a bit too much mollusk sex for the skeptical guy I'm trying to introduce to VNs.

You're basically watching it play instead of playing. You'll want to smash it after the first half an hour.
