And yes, there have been systems where Yukkuri are fed each other's poop. Animals often eat their own species' feces in real life.

A great deal of animals do.

Humans don't by merit of having a FRIGHTENINGLY efficient digestive system (probably the best in the animal kingdom), that leaves a waste that's completely non-nutritional.

This is a bad thing when you realize that means it cannot really be used as a fertilizer.
