Lancelot's personality is tied with Kariya's personality. In the same way Kariya's personality, morals, ideals, and physicality was perverted, so was Lancelot's. His honor as a knight was destroyed when he was forced to adopt the Berserker class. In the same way Kariya suffered, Lancelot suffered. It's a sad thing, really. Don't get me wrong, I rather admire Musashi and their duel is one of my favourite pieces of popular history. But it has to be said - there's no telling how much of it has been fabricated later on.

What is known is that someone by the name did actually exist in Musashi's time, and did have the traits attributed to him such as manners, clothing and - of course - the sword. But confusingly there seems as if there may have been two people with similar names, and an age gap of 20 years. It is unknown which of them was the historical basis for the Kojiro known today.
Even worse, it's even been theorized that their famous duel may never have taken place, but was fabricated to cover up the murder of either of the "Kojiros" committed by disillusioned followers of Musashi. The theory avoided touching on whether Musashi himself had been involved if this was the case.

A discussion of servants, using the command spell is, is rather silly. It allows them to exceed their own limits, and as such has little to do with the actual servant. IE, Saber can't teleport, but with a command spell she can.

Addendum: Caster, Assassin, Berserker and Rider were also added after it turned out the core classes (the knights) didn't provide enough mojo for the Grail, so they're even buggier. Only the three knights are necessary for a Grail War, you can probably overwrite the rest of the classes, summon multiple Servants of the same class, summon an extra Servant and so on.
