After my 'condition' worsened I went back and tried reading the novel, found it really mild and lukewarm really. The author never was a Hiki I think, in contrast gonzo's adaptation for what it's worth was more effecting. But yeah, there's a lot of room for a much "truer" series about hikis/neets I think.
