That's strange in and of itself. Hideyoshi is unassuming, which is usually a red flag for "up to something," but he also doesn't give off culprit vibes. Every other parent has that in one way or another; even the Servants have that; heck, even Maria has her moments; what's his story?

>> No.5571745

I have just recently started playing the VN. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of watching the anime first. But from what I gathered from the shitty anime, can I even take half of what happens to be actually, really happening?

>> No.5571750

Hideyoshi has had -no- backstory so people probably just forget he's there to begin with. He also doesn't seem like a bad guy.

That probably means he's the culprit in every episode, though. I wouldn't put it past Ryu07.

>> No.5571775

>>5571745
Ryu07 clarifies that in Episode 5 of the Visual Novel. The anime stops with Episode 4 which is why you don't understand what he's going for. That said, Umineko follows certain rules which he'll bring up later.

>> No.5571778

>>5571745

Wait until later in episode 3 and 4 and you will figure out how to think about things.

The basic idea is that even if we see crazy magical shit happening, all that has to be done is to present an explanation of how a human could have done it.

There are some problems in discerning what did and did not happen though. One of the biggest ones is Gaap's pitfalls into the prison in EP4, unless people have figured out possibilities for that one.

So how can we twist this into motivation for murder? He had worked so hard to secure the success of his company but it was about to be stolen from him. HE NEEDED MONEY RIGHT NOW and so (going with Battler's theory at one point) he pretended to be the alchemic adviser to the family in order to convince them to lead him to the gold. Well, I didn't initially think he had any motivation but I guess it's actually quite plausible.

>> No.5571836

My shitty idea

Then he got a wife named Eva accompanied her to an Ushiromiya family conference and discovered the witch's gold. Now timeskip to 1986 he has managed to sneak out small amounts of the gold unnoticed and start up a small business, but he has bigger plans in store for this year's family conference. He is planning on creating a bizarre murder scenario that will allow him to walk out with the rest of the gold, unopposed.

From what I can remember off the top of my head, he began smoking during or after the war. I think he said he worked in a factory back then. Wasn't it a cigarette factory? He likes Sengoku history. He started a successful chain of family restaurants by himself.

Speaking of the restaurants, I've been wondering how involved Eva is with the management of them, or if he doesn't include her in such men-only activities.

Hideyoshi is first to "assume" that it's a work of a demon. Then he freaked out a little when Natsuhi proposed to put a new lock on the shed. Then he drew attention to the existence of the single key. All that might mean that he's really an accomplice, for Shannon or other faker, and there exists a double key for the shed.
